I've been thinking of taking a simpler approach to some tracks, letting the bass and sharp leads to the work and not filling it with 78 pads and every string ensemble I can find. The bassline is almost bodylike, with the leads screeching in and cutting through.

Right now, this is leading up to a chorus of sorts. Expect vocals, samples and the usual McGuffins

This is kind of Ironic, but I think this could use a pad or two. Why? Well, you don't need 78, that's for sure, but at least one for a filler, it just sounds fuller. You could just put some reverb on the lead or bass for an artificial pad, or filler noise if you still want to keep it simple, which is usually what I tend to do. I also think that it might bring attention away from the repetitive intro, which sounds pretty good, but not exactly as defined as when it has some BG noise or sound. Just my opinion, though.

I was thinking some legato screams, as I'm so fond of doing for filling out stuff. Vocals will probably add a lot to the finished product when they're ready, though.

Quick update: The layout is ready. I'll probably veer away from the whole minimalist approach and add more stuff (I just like stuff)
I'm currently scavenging for samples and thinking about lyrics. The chorus needs a bit of work and not all the patterns sound just right yet.

*Update*
Most of the issues described below have been sorted. I'm only going to do slight tweaks to this now before releasing it.

Been messing around with this, and it's almost ready for release. If anyone wants to have a quick look over it and see if anything stands out as obvious, I'd be very grateful. Currently, I'm not too sure about the vocal levels. They seem a bit high, but when I lowered them, they sorta disappeared entirely. That will probably be my main focus before finishing it.
The "Through the looking glass" part of the chorus is obviously misaligned and off-beat. I'll get to that

I must say, this sounds 1000x better than that simple approach. This sounds pretty awesome, but the lyrics are a little hard to understand, without the lyrics I have no idea what you're saying, maybe just increase their volume a little, or just make them a little sharper. That thing at 3:30 was pretty cool. The lead is a little hard to hear also, but from what I can hear of it, it sounds pretty cool. The ending seems like it just died to me, but it's not that big of a deal. That one synth that pretty much plays throughout the song, it's really fast, not the high pitched one, but the low one that just plays one note; it seems a little repetitive to me, maybe just try experimenting with different notes with it, it sounds fine the way it is, but I just think maybe putting it in on a different note once in a while might be nice. Anyways, this sounds pretty good, I think I'm getting into this style a little, Nice work!

Subtractive EQ and a bit of reverb, mostly. I took away almost everything at the top and bottom of the frequencies and boosted the mids a bit
