<WIP><Non-Pony><House> Melodic Lead Experimentation

Postby KvackPack » 24 Jan 2014 11:56

Hello there, it's been quite a while since last time I posted anything here!

I just recently tried to improve my melody making skills by making this small track (which isn't finished):

Any type of feedback is appreciated! :D

Edit: I forgot to mention the synths are self made, no nexus^2 this time! :P

dayum dat melody.

My initial impressions were *meh* but the full melody progressed really nicely, even if the resolution was a little unsatisfying to be honest. I really did like the little clicks and reverbed FX floating around, for some reason that always make a track feel more clubby, iono.

Suggestions: I'm not the greatest with melodies myself, so I can't offer too much beyond just fiddling around on the piano roll until something really cool pops up from out of nowhere. What I find really adds an uplifting feel to a synth melody though is having the same melody an octave higher, and EQing a little and reducing the volume of the higher notes so they aren't overbearing. Keep up the great work mate :)
I worship Fluttershy.

This gives me a very nice summer-night feeling. I think you could add one more layer to this, like a really bright arpeggio or something over the top. The melody in itself sits nicely on its own, but it could be brought out even more with some bright accents
