sounds pretty good, but the volumes need to be a bit more balanced.

Yeah, like I said, it was my first time with FL Studio, so the mixing isn't the greatest, but my main concern was making sure it doesn't clip and sound fuzzy.

very 80's feeling. yeah just work on the levels. some of vocal sample timing was off ~1:40-2:00.

Of course this song (especially the chorus) always remind me of a dead ringer of "I Just Died in Your Arms Tonigiht"

Funny you should mention that, DJ Pon-3, according to Daniel Ingram, that was the main inspiration for this song. That and The Final Countdown as well as Fade to Black (The opening guitar, or in my version, synth solo). Heck, any 80's song could count as an inspiration (Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight", Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night", the list goes on) (Yeah, I'm a huge 80's music geek). Hell, the additional solo I added was a tip of the hat to Van Halen. :3

But yeah, I see what you mean there. I think it adds to the song a bit, since the original song was, though awesome, a bit amateur in terms of performance (Instrumentalization, however, is top notch).

I want to do some of the other songs in this style, very synth/Simmons drum heavy. Next on my hit list is Cupcakes. Though I want to do something to the vocals, like some reverb and chorus. Any pointers on getting that 80's vocal sound?

What you might really want to look into is the genre known as AOR (not to be confused with album oriented rock) which really had that wall of sound that started with bands like Boston, Toto, and Journey and keyboards essential as well. most of those track you referenced were pop version of the same production techniques. If there's any hints for what they did to get those vocal harmonies it might be found on google or YT with the right search parameters.

Nice spot on the inspiration, i thought for sure it had to be a direct nod to that track and others. Glad to have that confirmed.

Well, I am a fan of all those bands (Especially Journey and Boston, I know Toto and Journey had some synth centric tracks). Not to mention Van Halen's 1984 (Both the album and song). That's right up my alley!

As for something I'm going for in terms of synth sound, here's 1984.

Sweet, I love it. I found a good electric piano VST as well (Sounds like something straight out of a power ballad)
