Equestrian Legends

Postby Nexgen » 17 Jan 2014 09:02

Yo', what's good, Nexgen in the hood.

Bad joke, whatever. Anyways, I was browsing MLR on a recent visit for no reason whatsoever, and saw that there's not much of what I consider my ideal "classic" music (no I don't mean classical music geez) so, I'm here today to start up a compilation album of sorts that hopes to bring back some root music and stuff. I'll be running this thing with 3ternal and Viricide Filly and whatnot, hopefully this can workout.

With that said, this is...

Equestrian Legends.

While I'm not big on doing pony music anymore, I thought it might be interesting to bring back a couple genres that I think are less frequent in the community. So, what sort of genres should be on this? Here's a list:

    Breakbeat

    Garage

    Jungle

    Old school hip-hop

    Lo-fi

    Chill

    Ambient

Chillstep/Old school Dubstep stuff (you should know what this means)

    Jazz

Or basically anything you can get approved.

With that said, genres such as Dubstep, Drumstep, DnB, Trap, Moombahcore, etc. are UNACCEPTABLE.

So, have at it. Sorry if this looks plain, I can come back and spruce it up later. I'll check in frequently too, and if enough people are interested, I'd happily start a Skype group for it and stuff. My Skype is lilxlemon, feel free to contact me with questions and such, as I don't check MLR and may forget unless reminded.

DEADLINE IS MARCH 7TH.

Have fun~

I'm not particularly good at any of these genre's but I love listening to most of them so I look forward to hearing how this all turns out. Good Luck to everyone involved. :3

Just a couple questions (and i hope you stick around to check for some at least in the first week):

1. Will this be a free album or not. If so where will the funds go?
2. Have you talked to the Equestrian Hype guys? They've done a lot of retro themed (house / jungle / garage)events with mixed results and it makes sense to combine energy rather than divide it if there's mutual ground.
3. I can make a post on fimmusic.tumblr if you like but not sure if you have any covers / images ready to go yet.
4. I'd recommend going through this post just in case you've underthought any level of what's needed running this event.
5. I'm assuming the "While I'm not big on doing pony music anymore, I thought it might be interesting to bring back a couple genres that I think are less frequent in the community. " means this is a pony themed album even if it doesn't have to be explicit? Doesn't make a lot of sense to make a "community" album or try to bring that influence there if its not.
6. Otherwise good luck, it looks like a nice idea if its run well.

1. This album will be free, I have no intention on charging people for music.
2. Have not, sorry. Didn't even know, just thought this was a good idea to pull off, since I know a few people who'd be interested.
3. I do not. This was completely on a whim. I'll let you know how that goes.
4. Alright, thanks a bunch homie.
5. Personally, I don't mind if it's pony themed or not. I'm not going to say it has to be. Forgive me if it wasn't clear, I had intended to urge the audience towards the idea of doing this in the idea of a pony theme, but not necessarily restricting it from being non-pony. Should've been more clear.
6. No, YOU'RE a nice idea.

This really interests me. Maybe I'll go for something like a Jungle or Lo-fi or even chill.

So count me in!

Also, could ambient be a good genre for this?

Okay, I might be able to whip up some lounge jazz, or maybe even some big band for this, if I'm feeling ambitious. Tentative interest, mainly because school.

There's a lot of you and I'm still unfamiliar with how to use this board well, so I'm gonna reply like it's Twitter.

@Aequus Unfortunately no. While it is an older genre, it is not the feel I'm looking for for the album.

@natsukashi Refer to the post, deadline is March 7th.

@ExoBassTix I don't produce, I am merely a rapper.

@ColorRiot Unfortunately, again, no. Refer to "feel" response to Aequus.

@VINXIS You mean like Chillstep? The original stuff? Yeah, I can see that, give it a shot.

@ElectronicFlare Adding "Ambient" and "Chillstep" right now.

@MilesTiden Lounge Jazz, look at you, speaking my language. :3

Updated with more genres that are acceptable.

Are you sure French house isn't acceptable? Daft punk made it back in the 90's.

I could also try Europop. (ala Eiffel 65)
