It basically consists of a heavy, often 808, kick drum and a sample from a synth or other sound effect mixed in with some reverb. Running it through heavy brickwall limiting gives you the #1 Beatport chart sound.
This album is a challenge event. I want to see who can make the best song using these techniques and perhaps making a similar mash up like the one above with all of our tracks. Bonus points to anyone who can actually get their work on beatport!!!
You don't need to make a full song either, you can if you want but the goal here is to make the epic buildup and the drop. If you want a stereotypical breakdown in the middle by all means add one.
There are no official judges, due dates, places to submit, or anything like that. Just post a song (or 5) and tell us what you think of other peoples songs. If anyone wants to make a mash up like the one above PM me and we will work it out.
This is of course a silly, just for fun event. I am somewhat mocking this overly used sound and style but I will be honest, this 'sound' sounds amazing live and the EDM crowds love it!!
