You know, the "Challenges, Contests and Events" forum would be a great place to put this. Hey mods, would you mind moving this over there?

This has been bugging me for a while....
*sigh*

1.
AN EP IS NOT AN ALBUM!

Definition (from wikipedia):

"An extended play (EP) is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP."

"In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a boundary between EP and album classification at 25 minutes of length or four tracks (not counting alternative versions of featured songs, if present)."

I mean there's stretching the definition (Silva Hound's Bass Rocket EP was ~27 and Aviators' Cake EP was ~36 min), but COME ON! This is 27 tracks! How the hell is this not a "full album"?

2.
I'm getting really tired of all these events popping up that give essentially no information about the album. People REALLY need to start putting more effort into their OP, otherwise, not a whole lot will happen. To a lot of people, it's a clear sign that this won't lead anywhere. Rules that are too vague and not properly explained will confuse people and cause the event to be delayed, which is detrimental to people's interest in the project.

For this project in particular:

Will there be quality control?
How will this album be advertized?
How do we submit the files?
What format should they be in?
Where will the album be released?
Have you had any previous experience in handling charity-related fundraising?

3.
That deadline is INSANE for the amount of tracks you need. The big albums, like Balloon Party and Rainbow & Rooted may have a lot of tracks, but that's because they're handled with experience, well advertized, and give people a deadline of over 6 months. You've given us less than one. Considering how short the deadline is, and how the OP is written, you'd best set your sights lower.

And no, I won't be participating in this album.

Layin' the smackdown Lore :3

But no, I absolutely agree. You can't just come in here and expect us to shoot 27 quality songs in your face in under a month. That's silly and you should feel silly.

This has been happening far too often since balloon party.

I think this album would have a much better chance at getting anywhere if you cut down on the tracks. I think 9 tracks in total would be far more realistic, it would give better quality control and it would help the listener retain interest. If I bought an album with 27 random tracks I would except 1/5 of them to be listenable and enjoyable, the rest would just be 'there' and serve little purpose.

NO. Putting it on iTunes is just plain stupid, and the same goes for Google Play. Not trying to sound incredibly demoralizing, but putting it on bandcamp is PLENTY far. I also strongly doubt you'll get more than a few people buying this album. Once again, not saying these things because I want the worst for you, but just given how this thread started out, the little information you still give, the deadline you set, and how the first track sounds more like a rap about sex than the crystal empire (I don't mean to offend you, Rainboom. Apologies in advance), I personally feel that this album will only get a few downloads from the people who decide to donate simply because it's for a good cause. I feel sorta bad, because I'm bashing this album so much, but it's sorta a train wreck in motion. I'd advise that you pull the album (simply leaving the bandcamp up to advertise it), set the deadline 2-3 months longer, add in more details on the album (such as which genres you'd prefer, who will all be working on prelistening to this album, and any other tidbits of information you should need), release it, and ask Equestria Daily to feature you, politely. Feature it on your EKF channel, soundcloud, ask some of the other news sources for bronies to feature it, spread the word about it.

Brutal honesty is best honesty.

I agree with everything itroitnyah said. Also, put it on itunes and you'd have to pay, not to mention apple would take cuts anyway.
