Wildfire relief compilation: Replanting Appaloosa-Date added

Postby DerpyGrooves » 04 Jul 2012 17:11

Hey, for those not in the know, I live in Colorado Springs and I've seen firsthand the destruction caused by the Waldo Canyon Fire and the other fires burning across my beautiful state.

I was wondering if anybody would be interesting in putting an album together to help those involved. I think it would be a really fun way to help some people that really deserve our support right now.

Please post if you're interested.

EDIT:
Okay everybody! I've consulted with some people and we think a reasonable date to aim for having all tracks in by is August 5th! Release will be at some point following, but will definitely be before Everfree NW.

As for the genre, try to do something evoking the beauty of the Rockies, without going full John Denver cliche. Maybe stick an acoustic guitar in there or something but apart from that, go crazy.

I'll be creating a Gmail to accept submissions and will also be starting a skype chat for those involved to throw ideas off one another. Hit me up if you have any more questions! My skype name is KenjiBeast

I would gladly join this. My aunt, uncle, and cousins had to evacuate because of the fire, and I don't even think they're sure if their house is intact or not.

For the record, I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming. And there are the same number of fires burning in our state as yours, just saying. I can poke my nose off the deck and smell the smoke, and see the flames poking over the mountains in the distance. The entire city was cloaked in smoke earlier this very morning, so bad that it caused car accidents. People even here have been hospitalized because of working outside for extended periods of time and being exposed to just the smoke that has blown its way up here from Colorado's burning.

These flames and this drought effect a hell of a lot more people and places than just Colorado.

Absolutely.

say the word, as a native here i'd be an idiot not to help out on an album that helps the poor people in my state that have just been so devastated. i can get the word out on bronymusic.com if you get a deadline and concept lined up.

Hey, this is a good cause. Even though I doubt I could conform to whatever genre is picked, I think it's something I should do to help out.
