Not sure if late night or early morning.

A lot of the themes seem to be making bad songs. EDIT: Unintended drama sorry.

- Drunk
- Poison joke
- Two lots of Discord
- Technical difficulties
- All the WAT contests

At the very least they encourage a lot of troll entries.

Wow hahahah you're a sack of shit!

No. Actually, I think a lot of entries were really great this round. There was a good balance of troll entries to non-troll entries, so whilst listening to the great music, we could have a laugh too. Cause at the end of the day, the Toastbeards are just for fun. That's all.

You need to be there to experience it. It's no fun listening on your own. We are a community, of course.

Jackle's Winter remix (I guess),

Okay, you got me.

But no, I'm fed up of some of you lot just labelling the Toastbeard as a trollish clique when for most of us it serves as an inspirational source, and an event to look forward to, and to a have a shit-ton of fun with all our musicfriends.

EDIT: 500 get.

That's a rather extreme way of looking at it...

<list>

for the first two, ok yeah just a bit.
but, re: there is a heavy emphasis here on fun. (Especially for WAT compos.) You should drop by the IRC during a sync if you haven't already. Just listening to the entries is 1/3rd of the experience.

and...I can't think of anything else to say here that isn't mirroring i-pie's post in a less aggressive dialect.

Indeed! I may be quite new, but I have to echo both what Pie and Sci have said.

For those of us who are, so far, taking the Toastbeards seriously, it provides an excellent opportunity that forces us to create something on a regular basis. Even if it's crap, at the end of the week, we can still point to the TB posts, and say "Hey, I made something, and it got listened to by everypony in the chat!"

I think being "forced" to create on a regular basis (weekly, if not more often) is healthy for one's creativity, and makes one explore concepts and ideas one might have otherwise dismissed, often times resulting in something quite good! I've heard some really cool stuff so far, and can't wait to hear more.

Don't be so quick to knock it. :3

OK you seem to have taken that the wrong way. Apologies.

By "making bad songs" I mean the objective taken literally would make a bad song.
Not saying at all that they produced bad songs, I did like a lot from those weeks.

Should have put quotes around bad, like 'bad'. I actually love Toastbeard as it is, just pointing out the abundance of one theme.

It would be incredibly stupid of me or anyone to complain about quality when you guys are doing this every week and for free.

The syncs are at (EDIT) 3am for me (and obviously all the British composers here so I don't know how you do it) but I do read the chatlogs and guess what song was playing.

For ZIQxx, synclistens are at 3am GMT.

For ERSxx, synclistens are at 5am GMT.

ah, I see what you mean.
I like to run these types of themes every so often, though, yeah, they could be spaced further apart.

I'm always open to theme suggestions. :3

ok, since there's no new episode saturday, I've pushed the ERS04 deadline to normal ZIQ time:
http://toastbeard.comli.com/pony/a/ERS04/

and...also on the topic of the Episode Response compo:
<Myth> I might be the only one, but I want to try repond to the episode as quickly as possible, and then I don't want to have to sit on it for a week until the sync-listen. I'd rather post it while people are still excited.
<Myth> So maybe
<Myth> we could make it like a 1 day speed response thing?
<Myth> And run the regular toastbeard alongside it?

Myth has a really good point here. (emphasis added by me)

The problem is that no matter how you cut that, it's going to either be a really short time to respond, or it's going to overlap with things like "school" and/or "weekday mornings".

thoughts?

Looking at the Toastbeard page, Senator hasn't followed his own advice.

I don't get inspiration instantaneously - it does take a while for me to settle in and develop things.

Whatever. Try it out for ERS05, and if it doesn't work, hold another ERS05 that lasts for the rest of the week.

Looking at my YouTube page, you'll see that I eschewed the ERS Toastbeard entirely and just decided to upload my track for all to see only hours after the episode premiered. So that my subscribers and whatnot would be super excited about it and impressed by my mad speedcomposing skillz and whatnot.
