I just call all music dubstep and just go about my way. Yes, I know that I'm everything that's wrong about the world. =P

Icky wrote:Also Glitch Hop is really more than KOAN sound, lots of artists are doing their own thing with it. Also wouldn't call glitch hop that popular at the moment. Not compared to all the other genres you listed.

Oh, and only monstercat calls it "EDM" but they call everything EDM that isn't a major genre.
genre debate, commence.

Those are seriously prime examples of Glitch Hop. Like honestly, they're very good songs.

Also, Monstercat just doesn't want to have a genre colour for all the genres so, basically anything that's left over is getting put into EDM. Which you kind of said, but whatever.

And I wouldn't always say that music HAS to be in the BPM range that Art said. Yes, those are usually pretty general to them but there are songs that are the genre without being in the BPM range.

Oh boy, subgenres!

I fail to see the point of subgenres. Drumstep is just dubstep with a faster tempo. Glitch hop and moombahcore are the same thing, essentially. Complextro... Complextro. I don't use the term. Even Feed Me is just electro house, because if I split up genres like this, my music library would have dozens of genres for electronic music, but I'd still be stuck with umbrella terms for my rock and metal, so I try to keep classifications as broad as possible. Hence, no drumstep, no complextro, hell, I list moombahcore and glitch hop under 'moombah.' Just makes it easier :D

Okay supersaws plz be quiet.... this is just not any fun... I'm being screamed at by supersaw, modern talking and a cookie cutter complextro beat. Good for what it is, and what it is is BOORRRINNGGG. Next.

Actually, there wasn't a single instance of modern talking in my song. Nice try though. Also, this song isn't really complextro at all, let alone a "cookie cutter complextro beat". It's a lot closer to drumstep in terms of genres. I like constructive criticism, since it helps me get better, but this is just mindless banter that I can't take seriously, sorry. :P

Yeah, sorry, what was I thinking? I'm well known for providing constructive crticism but this was just really unprofessional of me and I regret writing it now. I'll write a proper review later when I'm in a place where I can listen, but I guess I was just getting frustrated with the overabundance of this genre.

I admit that this is the absolute nadir of my review here, and I guess my half assed attempt at being edgy. I guess my feeling however was that this was just lost in a sea of very similar tracks, and this tune had the unfortunate positioning of being the last straw.

I don't see why having a supersaw is a bad thing. Its the best synth c:

Its like not being allowed to use piano(contrary to my name, piano is best pony).

Okay I'd just like to point this out because I see a lot of people making the same mistake

Skrillex didn't invent "Brostep"

Rusko did, if anything Skrillex just made it mainstream in the US

I still like to think of Excision as the progenitor of modern bass music, but then again I'm only so good with the history

I wouldn't wory, Mallard. I think we've all been there were we've given some unfairly harsh reviews. In all truthfulness, I'm sure the reviews where you actually provided helpful criticisms were quite beneficial to the composer :)
