Hahaha no, I'm not Kill the Noise but I DO love his style and he is a major inspiration of mine! I've been lurking for a long time and I'm just now getting together my soundcloud/youtube/etc... coinciding with the Balloon Party release (which is why there's nothing out there about me yet, lol).

Glad you liked the track man!! Dude, that's the biggest compliment anypony could ever have given me - I've got a long way to go before I reach Kill the Noise's level I think, but seriously man THANK YOU, that really means a lot!!

Can you link to your stuff, or put it in your sig? I loved your entry, and really want to hear more and follow your progress!

First post, I'm unfortunately, often too busy to frequent forums, but here goes,

I'd like to congratulate everyone who got on the album, very nice work all of you, I feel fortunate that my name is up there with yours.

My sincerest congratulations to all of you who didn't make it in there, the simple fact that all of you tried so hard and participated in this event just goes to show how dedicated you all are. I read some bitter post in this thread, and my answer is, do not fret ! This isn't the album that defines a career or a lifetime, it surely is a great thing, but it is nothing you should worry about ! Think about how much you've learned while working on your tracks, I know I have learned quite a lot of valuable things, which have forced me to re-build my workflow. Think of the fact that those songs are not wasted, none ever are. Please don't consider yourselves as "b-sides" or "rejects" you are just as good and brilliant as anyone else is, and I feel humbled by seeing all of you work for all this time and trying THIS HARD.

Once again thank you, all of you, for this amazing opportunity.

There was no favoritism. I am dead honest about this. Songs were judged without artist names explicitly known. The only way you could tell is if you heard the teaser beforehand, or the song had already been tagged as such. There were many well known artists whose songs did not make it. I was shocked at some of them when I learned who the artists were.

So please, PLEASE, do not assume that the track list was based on who was submitting the track.

Okay, sure, but can you explain why Balloon Party was billed as "THIS HARD", only to have tracks rejected because they were TOO hard?

Maybe there wasn't favoritism, but there sure was genre bias.

Hardness wasn't the only criteria being judged. There were plenty of songs that were hard enough that were rejected for other reasons. If you're curious as to why an individual track may of not made it, post it on the music board and ask for a critique.

Even if lots of submissions didn't make it in the end (mine included), the sheer amount of passion and force behind this one project is enough to make me go WOW.

Kudos to you all. I will definitely be doing more music production in the future and I owe much of that inspiration to this event. Thanks to all. :D

Oh god, I knew this would happen

I'm not angry that I'm not in this, I'm kinda down a=lot of people were left out of this, reasonably I would'nt want like 3000 songs in one album but There were good songs that hasn't got picked because It was under the radar.

And...no Omnipony :(

Bright side is, it's a pretty darn well album :)

Fine, here's a good (real) question then:

What are ya'll BP organizers gonna do with allllllllllll dat extra money you raised? Cuz I get the feeling that everyone's travel expenses were paid in full by dinner time.

Possible Options:

1) Use it to help more musicians get to future cons.
2) Donate it to a worthy charity.
3) Start a legal defense fund for Bronys.
4) Steal it, flee to banana republic, live as a king.

Wow, mate, are you that upset that your song didn't get in that you are set to bashing BP all the way?

There are hundreds of musicians wanting to go to Bronycon and there is no way in hell that there will be enough money raised for everyone to go, considering expences per person outside US are about 1.5k dollars for the traveling alone relatively considering the distance of various areas.

So only a few musicians will be lucky enough to recieve help from the album, and you think that this raised enough money to support everyone and you think they would like to steal it?

>3) Start a legal defense fund for Bronys.

What is that all about? Are we criminals?

yes and flee to a banana republic to live like kings- YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE THOUGHT THAT WASN'T A JOKE

I guess while I'm at it I should also mention that I don't think that Circuitfry is an Illuminati puppet either

btw my understanding was that the actual number of musicians BP was planned to help was somewhere around a dozen. Have you um, SEEN Bandcamp lately? They are gonna smash whatever the $$$ goal was. Might as well use anything left over to help A FEW MORE BRONY MUSICS PPL (not all 2,000 of us hurr durr) travel, amirite? Or failing that, donate it. But since you srsly thought I thought ArtAttack was gonna hop on a flight to the Cayman Islands with a suitcase full of money lol, here's a few more "suggestions" of what they could do with any extra BP cash:

5) Buy ALL OF THE giant plushies! (You could get them all "customized" too, wink wink!)
6) Donate it to the Mitt Romney campaign!
7) Rent a Porn Star! (HELL NO that link ain't SFW)
8) Invest it in the illicit drug trade! (Be the one who knocks!)
9) Hire John De Lancie to do a dramatic reading of this thread!
10) VEGAS!!!!!!!!!

Guys people need to calm down. Sure it must be pretty difficult that some people who worked for months on a single track didn't get in but there's no reason to completely flame out the organizers. I really don't think they promised a spot on the album and a free plane ticket to those who entered. Sounds like you can re-enter your track for the After-Party and perhaps get it on there or just your release your track on its own to get it finally fully heard. I know you can't say it MADE the album but you could say it was made FOR the project. Or hell organize and create a Bp Rejects album and get it under a different name. But calm down as otherwise Makkon seriously might lock the thread and ban anyone who can't handle rejection. He's already warned people just last week about thinking first and posting second.

As for the funds it sounds like there's PLENTY of cash going to support the 13(?) people's expenses of getting there at this point. Ultimately if other people want to go, who can partially pay their way, and they just need a free hotel room or some additional help I hope those funds will go their way. The project was always a little vague about how it was going to help as a bronycon fund. Ultimately its up to the convention organizers to plan accordingly and make the benefits wider to help the brony music community if it can help. People are throwing their wallets at the monitor screens now and the BP team really need to communicate openly how it's being spent IF the people already planned for are fully covered and there's a surplus. It's only fair.

Again amazing job on this event and I think and hope that the relatively small amount of grumbling isn't souring this for people who did or didn't participate in this. People have already pointed things that could have been done better but that really shouldn't ruin it for people. Ultimately you have to assume it's going to be beneficial for the community and part of that means that people who have a problem with aspects of it move along or take a break from the internet after they've already voiced them.

I thought the profit distribution was already well set and done?

- Bronies that need the financial assistance send an official request in.
- BP funds cover the musicians needing assistance on a first come, first serve basis.
- Any surplus funds are donated to charity.

I don't see anything vague.

This, so much this.

Seriously though, guys don't be sad your entry didn't make it in, the judgement on this was super high (damn my English).
Getting rejected in this doesn't by any means say that you are bad or anything similar.
Take this as an opportunity to improve instead, learn why you didn't make it in instead of going all like "my song was so much better than X".

Yeah, after getting a few proverbial and literal kicks to the skull, I changed my attitude about this. At first I felt like I was singled out and my work had all been for nothing, but now I have a change of heart, especially since the after-party thing was announced. Maybe I'll have a shot at that. It's a million to one chance I'll even make it that far, but you never know until you try.

Besides, I only did BP for fun, not to stroke my e-dick or something. It would have been cool to be a part of MLR history, but there will be other collabs/albums/what have you, this isn't the be all end all or curtain call, as it were. If you want to take a chance at the after-party album, go right ahead, I'll be with you all the way, but if you want to go ahead and release your track, that's fine too. Some of the "rejects" were great and the album itself rocks too. The only one who should feel like crap would be the Skrillex thief.
