Don't use the Modern Talking waveform, don't make a lazy song.

Is this a guideline or a rule? I understand if you don't want the album filled with overused and stereotypical yoy's but it can be used as a different sound aswell...

Is there a contest for any kind of music? I can do classical, jazz, contemporany and random things like this.

SHUT IT. We need orchestra composers too for awesome hardcore orchestra hits or even full compositions! You have to know how to make your instruments rock the crowd like us. This is a challenge to manipulate your composing style to work like and with the electronic music. Classical instruments can be just as effective as a bass cannon. I think our classical musicians have proven that and can do it again.

Alright let's make some hot tracks! (And don't forget about the charity album for Bronies For Good, either!)

Of course i can help but i cant make an entry video with those genres. So i am out.

Circuitfry once said that Modern Talking is the Comic Sans of dubstep. It just sounds sub-par compared to alternatives.

I think his point was that you can use it to make leads, even pads, and certainly for use in genres other than dubstep and electro house.

Of course, would this really be a Knife Party parody if we did use modern talking?

You mean the coming two and a half months. We have time, man, and even though I'm forcing you to juggle two projects, there's plenty more time than a few days to make that the best song you've ever made.

I've been playing with some harder styles for a few weeks. Turns out, it's really not my thing. Right now I've got two or three minute-long projects that fit the theme, none of which I feel any incentive to continue, unfortunately. Buuut, I will have something ready by June. Pinkie promise. I will more than likely need a bit of help though.

Here's my most recent attempt (that I do not plan on finishing):

Like I said, this style is pretty new to me. General tips on how I can improve will be much appreciated.

You have some good sounds going.

I didn't notice a kick drum until halfway through it... and that is a problem, try to bring it out more wide some subtle sidechaining and EQing.

To make something "hard," it doesn't necessarily have to sound dark if that's not your thing. Full sounds and a powerful kick (meaning with oomph, not overpowering or anything) generally lead to "hard." Kinda vague, but there's a surprising amount of freedom to make something "hard." I'm not a very good person for general advice, though. If you have questions about something more specific I could try and help. Or just feedback on your other projects, I'm decent at that.

Agreed about the kick, needs to be emphasized. Aside from that, it sounds really cool, I like it. Good transitions in between sections and a good ending.

I've made a bassline for my song. You think this will work? It's the model for one of the riffs.

I like it, its catchy! Its hard to tell if it would work without the rest of the song but I think you could make it work.

"Hard" in general is not my thing  . Everything I try to make sound hard ends up sounding dark, so that's the theme I roll with. Works for me, I like dark. Anyway, here's another attempt, one that I may actually end up continuing:

Well, I've got a couple of finished tracks in my thread over in the Music forum to which I've yet to receive any replies, if you want to take a look. They'll give you a good idea of how radically different the Balloon Party theme is from what I'm used to making.

I have to ask, would you be accepting wallpaper submissions for something like this ? I'd love to get involved, and since my medium of choice is art rather than music I'd love to make some wallpapers and whatnot.

If you have a deviant art or something, post it there. Don't forget to tell circuitfry you made some art to get it shown around, maybe :3 He posted some of Owlet's designs on the FB group.

OHHEY, there's a kick there... But now it sounds like there's some clipping happening in a couple spots.

Interestingly enough, all those percents add up to 120%.......

It's only a rough draft. The final product probably won't be this long... hopefully. Don't hold back with criticism. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/56069148/Dnb4.wav
