Like I said, I'll submit it here if it is hardcore enough. If not, I won't have a song ready in time for this.

I feel bad for not having worked on a song for this yet. Well, technically I have, but it's just some percussion ideas using 5/4 time signature. Damn these 3 day conventions right before something is due

If it's full on brostep, I'm going to post pictures of Fluttershy gore until I'm banned from the board

New topic for toastbeard came out. "Rainbow Dash slowed down"

I could probably do some crazy brostep for that. I'll save my electro house complextro crap for a different project. Still having vocals though.

...Fluttershy dealing the gore, or Fluttershy being...

Never mind.

In other news, Aussie and I are the most responsible, deadline-keeping people ever. We're totally done with our song... yeah.

Hey guys. I've been following this thread for a couple weeks now. I've made several attempts to produce some hardstyle based stuff, but I've never tried to prodcuce it or any "hardcore" music before (it's been rough haha). I haven't had frequent access to the internet, and I'm not familiar with gabber, speedcore, or any related genres to any respectable degree.

But last night- in my sleepless delerium- I whipped this up:
http://soundcloud.com/hackdsounds/raw-speedcore-loop

Today I was able to grow it into this:
http://soundcloud.com/hackdsounds/speedcore-wip

I don't have a whole lot of time in the next couple days due to job training, but if anyone could critique what I've got right now (tone, texture, distortion, EQ, etc.) I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not going to pretend to know what's legit in this genre. Listening to it on headphones it (particularly the bass) sounds really sharp. I'll also probably cut that middle "gallop" rhythm for a more straight forward cadence. I haven't been able to explore adding any ambient or atmospheric elements to tie things together, but I may try that. Also, the structure may not reflect what I ultimately do, but I do like the contrast between speeds (I think it's a little boring if you just machine gun the kick, but perhaps that's just me).

So yeah, huge thanks in advance to anyone who gives their two cents. (Also sorry about the titles on the wips if this isn't true speedcore lol).

I made some Downlink-esque plucks for the main part of the song. I also made a robot Zecora voice. I'm going to make a slow, sludgey, and heavy drop. Yes, it's dubstep. Fucking deal with it.

The drop in this song is pretty hardcore. I bet if I put some work into it and slap some Wow Filter and Ohmicide onto Massive, I could do even better with my song.

I'll also make the drop of my song fairly unmusical by switching octaves and using semitones and chromatic notes everywhere. Because unmelodic music tends to be pretty hardcore.

Also, what is 'gabber' music? I've heard of speedcore, breakcore, and all of the core genres in electronic music, but not gabber.

Keep in mind, that I am not going for a fast type of hardcore. I'm going for something slow and sludgy, like Downlink. Meaning the bass will be very heavy, and there will be a crapload of sub-bass. So more heavy than flat out hardcore (there is a noticable difference between the two). But still plenty hardcore. Which is why I gave you the other example.

I want it to feel like you are being slowly crushed by the bass during the drop. A really dark, sludgy, murky feeling. So it will likely be very sub bass heavy. I don't know about you, but that seems more hardcore than just carelessly raising the bpm.

Gabber is the original term for hardcore. Yes dubstep can be hardcore, (Look back a few pages and you'll see MY post about hardcore dubstep.) but I don't think this is the album for it. Getting "slowly crushed by heavy bass" is great and all, but I think this album is about getting rapidly smashed to pieces. The only non-kick based kind of music there should be on this album is DnB. SHIT THIS HARD:

Look. I just really want this album to turn out right. I don't want it to end up like the Balloon party APM. That was awful. I'd like to see this album be hardcore and nothing else. Obviously you can do whatever you want, and I'd love to hear it, but hardcore is what I'm expecting from this album. And hurry the hell up man you've only got a few days!

Kick based music?

Now I wish I could have made grindcore for this. But someone complained about metal, so I didn't.

Seriously, I could have made a song with insane double bass drumming. But nobody wants metal.

In fact, that was even my original plan for my entry. Brutal death metal or goregrind.

So fuck it. I'm making dubstep. If you don't like my dubstep, then just reject my track. I have plenty of other places that would love some hardcore bass music. Maybe I'll try breakcore next time something like this appears.

Another issue I have is time. It may take me the full 7 days for toastbeard to finish this song. So it may be late by 2-4 days.

I'll still try to make my song extremely hardcore and submit it here, but I'm prepared to have it rejected. If it gets rejected, I'll submit it elsewhere. I understand if you reject it.

Due to a complication with Aussie, we might not get our song in on time. Everyone should totally PM him and give him some "hope you feel better" type messages c:

I don't like the blood from the mouth and cracked eyes of pinkamena. Also, that one part of the surrounding emblem thing that looks broken out is, I feel, too far away. Close that huge gap and remove the blood/eye effects, the rest looks fine.

Also, has the due date been moved back a week?

yes the due date has been moved another week BUT IT WON'T BE MOVED AGAIN and here's the text from the tumblr and facebook page that I just posted to both:

GOOD NEWS EVERYPONY! We've noticed a lot of people are rushing their tracks to get them done by tomorrow, so we're extending the deadline another week!

THE NEW TRACK DEADLINE FOR PINKAMENA PARTY IS AUGUST 22ND. The album will release within a week after that. This is the FINAL extension, so get your tracks done by the 22nd!

Just so that we're on the same page, "hard as hell dubstep" for this would have to be on the same level as this:

What the hell? I'm trying to kick my dBlue Glitch addiction, not support it!!!!

I can't promise that this will be the exact result, but I'll use this as a sort of standard for hardness.

Also, I hate this 'use the same note the whole song' nonsense (like in that example you just gave). Bullshit. I'm using dissonant intervals (particularly the diminished 5th). Using one note is not hardcore. It's boring.

I'm serious. The whole drop of that example was the same droning F#. I refuse to make music that boring.

But do you see what he generally means? Dubstep, by nature, can be hard, but almost never like the hard you need for Pinkamena Party. So if you wanna make hard dubstep music for this, you gotta make it REAL fucking hard.

Also, thanks for the extension! I don't go on the IRC so this is a relief :P
