so this is going to be about a 30 min TB with 1 entry each and only on-topic episode response. Is both off-topic AND troll entries not allowed or deleted so far? I have an off-topic non-troll remix i'll post if its allowed (allowed in the past) but then again maybe the clampdown is finally occurring on TB, lemme know if that's that plan.

I'm not allowed to make ambience anymore, wah. Okay, can we have two syncs then for TB, because I wrote another random happy polka song, but now I can't share it by making something up for the theme. And sincei t's Hearts and Hooves day... :(

sorry for belated responses, let's answer some stuff before sync tonight:

DJ Pon-3 wrote:started an HOUR earlier

This is what I'm going to do for the next round, until I get some more feedback.

DJ Pon-3 wrote:separate european sync-listen
this is something I don't really want to do, since you'd have a split audience.
...That's probably the most state-the-obvious thing I've said in a while, but a big draw of compos is the sync listen with everyone who entered.

DJ Pon-3 wrote:Did splitting the page WORK last night w/o any problems?
It /does/ help. Having 40+ embeds of every flavor on the same page is generally not healthy.

eliminate the troll entries
This is also something I don't want to do. It's a good idea in that it can make the sync much quicker and more pleasant, but sometimes troll entries are fun.
I like the system #thasauce has in place: you get one entry. make it count.
"Troll entry" doesn't have to equate to "low quality entry", after all...

DJ Pon-3 wrote:Is both off-topic AND troll entries not allowed or deleted so far? I have an off-topic non-troll remix i'll post if its allowed (allowed in the past) but then again maybe the clampdown is finally occurring on TB, lemme know if that's that plan.

Again: you are allowed one entry. make it count.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at...
but: the 5 minute per entry limit was only considered, never implemented.

ERS17 here's what you missed:
sounds: http://toastbeard.comli.com/pony/a/ERS17/
words: http://www.pastebin.com/HSysh7Th

next round set: the big reveal (or an episode response)!
http://toastbeard.bronyradio.com/a/ZIQ24/

related: SERVER MOVE. YOU CAN NOW UPLOAD UP TO 8MB !!
...I think. So far this seems accurate.

Also, about this round: I'm trying two things:
1. dual theme but one upload per person. you can still submit troll stuff, but only one. make it count. ;)
2. SYNC STARTS ONE HOUR EARLIER. I'm still looking at moving it back to 6 PM EST (sorry PON3), but for this week...just one hour. Wet feet before diving in, I guess?

so there you go!
again, thoughts/words appreciated

ah well. :( i'll let other give their input on that but i understand the need and the difficulty of catering to two continents at once. I already feel bad for only being on for only about 15 minutes as I had other commitments that night (will listen and vote on a different day though) so maybe it will work better for the other people involved who can attend more regularly.

thx sci we appreciate all the hard work. ;)

OK

Pagination: now implemented.

This should alleviate a lot of the browser crashing problems, since, for example, ZIQ22 is now divided into 5 pages.

5 pages. just for emphasis.

http://toastbeard.bronyradio.com/a/ZIQ23/

But yeah, pagination works and will be automatically applied to all future compos. by force. for your own safety.

Only question now is: how many entries should go on each page?
Currently it's 15. So I guess we'll roll with that for now!

Sorry for the delay!

casualties:
1 accounting homework assignment
1 instance of apache (crashed and burned, had to reboot. not sure how I managed that.)
2 songs that I meant to work on this afternoon

....uhhhh, they should be.
they're working for me. <_<

If they're not working, I'd guess it's related to the "too many embeds are on the page at a single time" problem.

first paged toastbeard!

...here's what you missed
sounds: http://toastbeard.bronyradio.com/a/ZIQ24/
words:http://pastebin.com/58THsrwz

so. one hour earlier...I think that was pretty nice, really!
I could see it staying there.

BUT! I'd like to try the carefully calculated timeframe from my previous post. so.
6 PM EST (toastbeard time)
...which would be 9 am (+/- 1 hour) austrialia-time, 11 pm brit time, and midnight natsukashi time.

THAT IS THE NEW TIME. MAKE A NOTE.

Okay, so for a while, it's been a pretty known issue for toastbeard, that people can't attend because of time. No matter what we make the time, there will always be someone, somewhere in the world who has it at a really crappy time. Although this change probably benefits most of us, I cannot attend anymore due to my habit of sleeping in, and having church at about 9am (For me, the sync would start at 8:30am because central au) and I am sure there are many others who can't attend either

What I propose, is a moving schedule, to fix this issue. Like, one week it might be 6 PM EST, another week 8 PM EST, another week 10 PM EST, etc. with the time changing between a cycle of lets say, 4 or 5 hours? Or maybe choose a completely different time frame (like, so it's evening here, night in America and noon in Britain or something) to cycle around (I may do some calculations later on to try find some really convenient times)

Although this may cause confusion, it would certainly make it fair for everyone in terms of being able to attend the syncs

it is my opinion that this compo could have used more saxophone.

good round, too! I think this new time is alright. :)

StormWolf wrote:What I propose, is a moving schedule,

Alternating between 6PM and 9PM might be a good compromise...

Main (and only?) downside seems to be the confusion of "what time is TB supposed to be this week?"

Thoughts on a moving schedule, anyone else?

I like the moving schedule idea if it helps more people get to toastbeard, which it seems it does, so...i vote yes.

Good idea StormWolf O:

[5:49:53 PM] Bass Clopper: Harder to fit than the 15 was D:"

Oh, hey there sci!
I should've known that you had you had an user on this forum (Go me, derp!)

Anyway, my entry seems to be shaping up quite nicely. Will hopefully have it done before the deadline! :)

As for Stormwolf's idea, I support it. Makes it easier for more people to enter whenever they can.
I love music, and this show. I hope that my stay here will inspire others just as you inspire me.

next round set:
http://toastbeard.bronyradio.com/a/ZIQ27/

and, important thing about that round: 9pm.
"what," you say to yourself. Well here's what:
a bunch of people wrote:sliding schedule

SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING.

here's the breakdown:
ZIQxx.
look at those last two digits.
if it's an odd number --> sync is at 9pm
if it's an even number --> sync is at 6pm

this week you'll have 3 extra hours to make something if you forget about the shift. Hopefully everyone will be aware of this sliding schedule after that.

So Toastbeard this week was pony pirates a second time and Twilight this episode wears an eye patch, coincidence? I think not.

In fact I've been sent from the future to warn you that....

however there were still some wonderful tempo-shifting and trippy songs. :D
