As stated before, you can cover a song if you get permission from the writer. Chris, if you are personal friends with Paul Simon, first of all that is totally awesome and can I have his autograph, and second of all you have to ask permission. And I tell you what, we best avoid covers of songs that are on record labels because that makes things really way complicated. So yeah maybe not Paul Simon. :/

I'd love to do something, anything for this. I'm not very good at music so I'm pretty sure that whatever I submit won't get in, but I'd like to help in some other way.

I'll still try and make a piece, but because of the unlikelihood that it'd get in, I want to contribute to this in some way. Mod the tumblr, work advertising, anything.

Since I go on 4chan and 420chan regularly and know how to talk to the good folks there (and since they both have LGBTQ boards now), I'll post some stuff about this on there and see if anyone will bite. They're a bunch of pirates over there, so I can't guarantee I can get anyone to purchase the album, but they may tell people who will buy it. Worth a shot, I guess.

Cool.
Also, if any of you guys are friends with some famous musicians, it would be helpful if you sent this over their way. Like, they don't have to do something big. Even if it's just Mandopony playing a little jingle on his mandolin that could definitely propel this project to success.

I don't know anyone that's famous in the brony community, but my aunt is a composer. She's been real busy lately, but I'll let her know about this.

OK, I have started sending out inquiries to famous-ish musicians to see if they can make something for this album. So far I've sent things to Living Tombstone, Mandopony, Acousticbrony, Wooden Toaster, Jackle App, And The Rainfall, Scarlett Peace, Aviators, and PonyVisation. I tried to choose the most popular musicians but I also contacted a number of less-popular musicians who I have already talked with before so they kinda sorta know me. Anybody else I should send a message to?
Also, that would be lovely Ed :)

You might want to talk to circuitfry, he's got some pretty strong feelings on this issue in particular.

OK, thanks. I will send circuitfry a message when I can. Unless of course one of you people actually know him personally because I have never actually listened to his music (I'm sorry I'm such a n00blet)

Also And The Rainfall replied to my message. He says that he would really love to help out and he will if time allows it. So yaaay!! :)

Ugh I always get those two confused... Glaze is also Wooden Toaster, right? I did message him, but I forgot General Mumble.
Maybe I should ask All Levels at Once... Even though he really isn't that fond of bronies (as stated when I requested an interview with him.) He seemed real nice though, and I just adore his music.

I'd wager a guess that so long as it's not racist/sexist/homophobic/etc it should be fine.

Yeah. Also use it "tastefully." What I'm saying is don't pull a Die Antwoord and swear every other word.

Die Antwoord is this weird rap group from South Africa. They curse a lot. They're considered sort of like performance art rather than music, which is why they use a lot of shock value. All I'm saying is like, don't do what they do. It's nice, but it's not appropriate for a community album.
Also if something has profanity in it please mark it with a [Explicit] or something, just so people can know. Thanks! :)

Also, Scarlett Peace sent me a message saying that she could possibly do something if time allows it. Yaaay!

(Yea, I already recognized it as bad Dutch (mainly South African)).
I don't understand why everybody's asking for the limits on explicit language all of the sudden, just because it's brought up. Suddenly it sounds like everybody intended to make extremely explicit songs and all.
