I got this idea when I was in Greece, chilling out (sort of).
The Essence Of Imperfection, a Doomcore, Doomtechno and Dark Ambient compilation project. So, yea. That's the idea.
A compilation album containing Doomcore, Doomtechno and Dark Ambient tracks from the community.
We did Pinkamena Party and Rainblood & Vomit, so I'm sure we can do this too.
(And I just can't wait till Fluttershy's the next mascot and the Team of Violence kicks in action, cause that would probably be Dark Ambient and Doomcore too...)
NOTE, THIS IS IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THE PINKAMENA PARTY CREW.
What are Doomcore and Doomtechno? (I think you can figure out yourself what Dark Ambient is, and for those who don't Kyoga once made a nice thread that explains it, I might dig it up)
Unlike the Team of Violence, I'd like to provide you with some examples to let you know exactly what Doomcore and Doomtechno are (and just to be sure, also a Dark Ambient example).
Doomcore: Raum 107 -
Fall Of A StarDoomtechno: Hidden Rooms ft. Roto Visage -
LimitationDark Ambient: Groundhog -
CocoonIf wanted, I can give you a few more examples. But I'll explain what these genres are like here.
Doomcore is a more apocalyptic, usually more downtempo sub-genre of Hardcore. It mostly features more ambient sounds, sometimes dark vocals, and always a typical feeling of doom. The kicks are of course an important factor. They could sound like anything, as long as they're fairly hard and contribute to the apocalyptic feel of the track.
Doomtechno is kind of the same, except that it has soft kicks like you'd expect with Techno (hence the name), and usually more ambient and more repetitive elements. Again, all elements contribute to the apocalyptic feeling to make it as dark as possible.
Submission rules. - Track must be longer than 2 minutes. May be as long as you think you can handle.
- Your track has to be Doomcore, Doomtechno or Dark Ambient (happy now, eery?)
The deadline.October 20st is the deadline. That should be enough time, I figured.
The judging. We will give all tracks points on various aspects, and we'll choose the X (yet undecided amount) tracks that came out with the most points. We might look for some independent judges to help with the judging, and if we do, they will stay anonymous.
Uploading and submitting. All submissions should go to
[email protected] and should be in both WAV and MP3. Preferably uploaded to MediaFire, Dropbox or Box.
You may not upload this in public until the album is out. So if you've finished this track early, well, good for you, but you'll still have to wait.
(If you've mastered your track yourself, include that in the mail, it's for Pyre's information as he masters everything that comes in as unmastered).
The team.Currently, this is the team:
- Warmonger O (me)
- Pyre
- Zovi (Supersaw Hoover)
FAQQ:
What happens after the judging?A: When this is done, we'll send it in to a label yet to be announced.
In the case that it gets rejected, we'll send the album in to LEAF XCEED Music Division instead. That does mean that we'd have to wait for an album artwork (I'm actually already looking for someone to make it already, as a just-in-case).
Wherever this'll get released, it will generate no money whatsoever. This is all for good fun anyways, and getting released on a small label is an optional plus.
Q:
Does my entry have to be pony?A: Short answer, no. This is intended as a project to get you to go out of your comfort zone. And this doesn't include pony music.
And, this is (if all goes well) gonna be released on Doomcore Records, which is a label that accepts anything as long as it's good.
This does mean, feel free to make the track pony, but I recommend that if you do, keep it subtle ;)
Q:
Can I get help?A: Sure! If you need help, you can send anyone in the team a PM, or you can add me (GlitchHero9724) or anyone in the team on Skype, and we'll add you to the Skype group chat.
Of course, we won't be chewing everything, but we can help you out for sure :)
Q:
What if my entry sucks?A: We don't particularly care. Once again, this is all for good fun. Just to get you to do something else.
Send it in anyways. We'll try to give constructive criticism (aka. reason for reject) to all tracks that didn't make it on.
Q:
Can I work with X and/or Y?A: Collabs are of course accepted! Go ahead and ask your friend to make this track with you.
Q:
How many tracks can I submit?A: Use common sense.
We allow you to send as many tracks as you want, but remember:
quality goes over quantity. Even in this case.
Be reasonable. It's better to work on 1 (or a few) track(s) for the coming months, than to shit out 3 tracks per week you got.
Only the X best submissions will get on the album.
Q:
When will we get to see the album artwork?A: Several people have given us a possible album artwork already.
They will most-likely apply purely to the backup plan! They are all displayed in this thread.
Q:
Can I make a remix?A: We don't really mind if you make a remix. We just want to ask you to ask for permission from the original producer if you can make the remix. If they don't mind, we don't mind.
Q:
Who does the mastering?A: Earlier I've said that you gotta do it yourself, I know, but the team has decided that Pyre will master all tracks that come in as unmastered (meaning, if you really must master it yourself for whatever reason, that's fine, but tell us in your submission mail).
Don't be discouraged to work on this because you have zero experience.
We all have zero experience (as far as I know).
I hope that this covers all information necessary. If you want to know something, go ahead and ask.
PS: if you want to be added to the Skype group chat, add me and ask for it (once again, name is GlitchHero9724). If I'm online, it won't take long.
