Everywhere I go, I see EDM in plain old 4/4; dubstep is based around a two-step pattern, electro and house are based around a four-on-the-floor pattern, hardstyle is just 4/4 swung, and so on. Being a huge fan of uncommon time signatures, I find this to be a bit irritating at times (ignoring the hypocrisy in that I've never made an EDM song in uncommon time). So, I whipped up a short drum beat in 7/4, and that's where you come in.
I want to see what you all can come up with, making an EDM song on top of this 7/4 drum loop. You can alter it in any way, shape, and form, as long as the end result is still 7/4. What counts as EDM? Well, anything that normally would be 4/4! Electro, House, Dubstep, Hardstyle, Drum and Bass, etc.
Here's the 7/4 drum beat.(It's 128 bpm, but you can alter the bpm as you please.)Your goal is to take that drum beat and use it as the basis for your song!
Deadline: October 15thThere's not going to be any reward for the best entry, or anything like that. I just want to see what MLR can come up with in one month!
Note: Anybody who'd just be willing to make another 7/4 drum beat will be featured here for people to use, because I'm sure my beat sucks.
