Alright, this is gonna be a tough job.

DISCLAIMER:

This year, we have a more expensive venue and less money. A lot less. After quarterly taxes we are looking at starting off with ~$3000. We might gain more money over time, hopefully with the added One Last Shot album, but everything is a stretch. Not everyone will be able to be funded, we are going to have to choose which people we fund. Don't make a drama bomb out of it, we'll find a way to include you guys on the community time together.

APPLYING:

Since people cannot even be trusted to send in their own original music to an album, we will have to have a little security and validation with members. In order to prevent fraudulent requests for funding, we are going to be ask you to fill out this form, contact TripDiam (Skype name: artic47 ) on Skype, NOT me, and prove that you are indeed a musician requesting this aid. The steps are as follows:

1. Complete the form.
2. Ensure your Skype profile is listed under your MLR account.
3. Log in to your Youtube music and send https://www.youtube.com/user/BMDoubbleBass (TripDiam) a note that says it is you.

In cases where we are STILL uncertain, we will simply ask for a video like this one by Phaux, who pretty much came out of nowhere as far as I know, and hell, you can post yours right here (make sure to use the same account as step 3!) for convenience's sake:

If you can't tell already, trying to get your non-musician friends in on the cash is very discouraged. Attempting to manipulate funds distribution is a ban.

Then how would you go at step 3 and the extra safety measure?
Maybe ask the people to send a mail with the email they used to submit their song.

With only $3000 to go for i think a lot of people are going to need to do what they should have started doing awhile back...start saving your own money for your own trip to get yourself out there. Not sure if there was a lot less purchases than the previous bandcamp release (likely way too much of that "throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening" caught up with people's bank accounts) but that's not going to realistically stretch very far at all. If people built this up in their head that every member who made the album was getting a free ride the reality is going to be a bit of a wakeup call. Best of luck guys. Keep hyping that album and maybe some late purchases will occur.

I really think there should have been more emphasis on promotion of the "Please actually buy the album with moniez" part, rather than the "The free downloads are out? that's okay we'll make a mirror so you can still get it for free" response.

Not sure if its just me, but I don't really think there was a lot of promotion or hype over this album. Though I could just be on the wrong parts of the Internet for it and be completely wrong about this. Feel free to slap some mud in my face or somethin if I am.

^^ You may be correct on this. Bad mixing, good mixing.... Too much dubstep, too little dubstep....the first balloon party pulled off getting funds because that was its primary goal and people made it apparent. It didn't matter how you felt about it because it achieved its goal. That was the single most important part, getting that financial assistance to people. With R&R few people even talked about BUYING it or the NEED to buy it for it to meet its goal. People just expected something magically to happen, that eveyone on it would get a free trip.

Maybe that's the lack of star power, the lack of talk from the people who could signal boost it, or just how it was presented to the community as a step down or something people should get for free. Maybe since so many albums are charging money anyway that people are finally strapped for what they will be willing to pay for. Certainly the Seeds for Kindness event doesnt give the music away free and this maybe shouldn't have either.

Even our One Last Shot album has a CHANCE of getting some last minute additional funding by including the SOLID runners up and I'm not seeing any talk on making it a purchaseable album, more just about throwing stuff together quickly with less pro mixing to satisfy a need to have less quality as a contrast or to get on....it's not a good opportunity now on a follow-up to demand payment if the primary album was free.

I dunno guys, if you miss the point that these albums are supposed to generate money on these rare once a year occasions then they'll be another flash in the pan and an event that are quickly free downloaded, discarded, and forgotten. That's kind of a shame.

Well, thing was, I forgot to mention on the application two of three band members that are going are actually playing for dBPony on his set...Probably should've mentioned that. Will assume it's seen here. We honestly need about only $150 for rooming, but it's whatever. I say other musicians get priority.
