[NO LONGER] Seeking prog guitarist

Postby colortwelve » 20 Aug 2013 15:38

EDIT: The L-Train has provided me with a solo, and a very kick-ass one at that, so I'm done looking. Thanks to everyone who gave it a shot! :3

That song up there. It's got a little interlude bit that I think would sound pretty cool with a solo over it, but the section's (mostly) in an odd time signature, so I figure a guitarist who regularly works with progressive-type stuff would be my best bet for getting something done.

The section in question is from 2:19 to 2:39, it's in 5/8 except for the first and last measure, which are in 6/8, and the key is E natural minor. So if anyone feels like taking a shot, go ahead and download the track and lemme know when you have something :3

I guess I imagined at least the first two measures with a kind of John Petrucci, crazy-fast chromatics-all-over-the-place buildup, but beyond that I hadn't given it a ton of thought. I guess maybe something vaguely similar to this solo? I know that JP is kinda of a ridiculous standard to offer, but if it's at all possible to do something sort-of in his style without quite as much of that crazy shredding, I think that'd be my ideal.

And the tempo is 136 BPM ^_^

Ah ok, I get you now. I'm not sure if i'd actually be able to do something like that, but I'll keep having ago at it with that kind of style in mind and see if anything comes up.

Theres a prog guitarist on youtube though, who could probably help you out with it more than I will. Maybe have a chat with him and see if he can help you out.

Man I wish I could play like Petrucci. That was a pretty insane solo

If you can find HeyLasFas he is probably the best prog guitarist in the fandom. Kyoga is also know for his shredding capabilities. I'm not sure if either of that is what you are looking for.

I'm a bit late, do you still need something for this?
My fingers are really cold right now for some reason, but I can see if I can come up with something tomorrow.

I have one other person who said he'd try, but I've got nothing tangible at the moment, so if you wanna go for it, please do so :3

Hey, are you still looking for a solo on this track? I could give it a shot if you want.
