I am not quite sure how it handles CPU wise compared too others, but it works really well on my computer.

I'm going to try it. It seems like a good VST. Probably better than what I already have.

Yup, just so happened I bought 'em all plus another $30 off when I purchased Komplete Elements from Guitar Center. :D

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but TAL NoiseMaker is a MUST have free VSTi synth. I absolutely love it.

Another fantastic set is the Color Series by Need a Name Music: http://www.needanamemusic.com/site/?page_id=138
Give Bass One a try, it's pretty awesome.

Also, Kairatune: http://www.futucraft.com/kairatune/

Last one is Rez 3: http://www.ugoaudio.com/plug-ins/rez

Also a nifty free synth, and I'd recommend donating to get the 3 preset packs; there are some fantastic sounds to be found.

I am a big fan of Rez, it was one of the first vsts I downloaded.

Also the color series is pretty awesome.
and I strongly recommend Kairatune, just now trying it out and it is pretty awesome.

A nice free vst I like is Sumo
it makes things fat

http://www.delamancha.co.uk/sumo.htm
However the characters near the knobs kind of made it difficult to learn, but then FL showed me what they did.

Top Left is pressure
Bottom Left is dirt
Top Right is wait
Bottom Right is tone

Also I just checked the site and I found this as well
http://www.delamancha.co.uk/jellyfish.htm
I think I found my favorite synth even though I haven't tried it yet.

http://www.delamancha.co.uk/dynamite_cowbell.htm
You can thank me later

also since I don't use a tracker (might learn one later) here is a neat vst
http://tonebytes.com/bleep/ has some nice SID sounds

also all the mda plugins

1. From the NI and reFX websites, respectively. They both have demo versions. Unless you're asking where you can get them for free, in which case you'd need to pirate them, which I'm pretty sure is against the forum rules to discuss.
2. Posting in threads that haven't been posted in for a long time (I think the rough guide is anything past the second page but I could be wrong) is considered bad form. In future, it'd be best to create a new topic asking the question you want answered.
oh, and 3. Welcome to the forum :)

Image Line GMS is great for thick saw basses and steely mid range wobbles. Has some good FX controls and some pretty good sounding wavetables.

It comes free with FL 11

or you use either Garage Band or Logic Pro 9 which will only accept Audio Units.

tyrellN6 isn't bad, but I find that it sucks up computer power.

Everything NI, and the Korg Legacy Collection; the latter especially because it includes the M1, which is ideal for the usual bread-and-butter sounds you'd normally find on a workstation, and the Wavestation, because the sound of these are simply unbeatable, especially if you're producing New Age music.

NI - The Mouth isn't horrible. I wouldn't call it fantastic, but it works well for vocoding and auto tuning.

Don't think I've seen these in the thread yet:

Dune BE/LE - Free version of Synapse Audio's DUNE, probably the closest freeware synth to Sylenth in terms of sound character, quality, and CPU usage
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8au32 ... UNE_LE.zip

Xfer Freeware - A VST version of Massive's famous dimension expander, an 8 bit waveshaper, a bitcrusher, and some other useful tools
http://www.xferrecords.com/freeware/

ValhallaRoom - Probably beats the shit out of whatever reverb you currently have for the price of a new game (as good as ArtsAcoustic for 1/3rd the cost)
http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallaroom

FabFilter Saturn - Saturation/distortion/dynamics unit with crazy versatility, good for everything from beefing up a track to completely smashing it. Pricey, but worth it.
http://www.fabfilter.com/products/saturn

Xfer LFOTool - Sidechain effects, trance gates, filtering, phasing, flanging, panning, etc. Very useful and not too expensive
http://www.xferrecords.com/products/lfo-tool

TB Isone - Simulates speakers in a room, indispensable for mixing on headphones or simply checking a mix in various conditions. Very inexpensive for the quality and versatility it offers
