MLR Presents [Idea]

Postby [voodoopony] » 26 Nov 2011 21:13

Was brainstorming today.
I'm a user of the Twoism forums [fan forum for Boards of Canada] and they have this thing called "One on Twoism" where the members of the community compile an album of their best works and release it digitally and physically.

WHAT IF...
We did something similar, but instead set up a Bandcamp with tracks specially made by us. It'll be advertised in all participating channels, so if we get the community involved this can go pretty far.

Donations will be compiled onto a paypal. Over time, as each album comes out with heavy marketing from both our channels and EqD, we utilize the funds to throw a brony-music-con sort of thing. It'll cover the costs of the tickets to and fro for bronyartists to perform, the venue, and the rest can be volunteer work [planning, organizing, setting up, etc].

I think it's very possible, and I'm sure there are many bronies willing to contribute to see their favorite bronyartists perform live [or watch footage].

Thoughts?

To get this to work we need to contact all the notable artists, if we get enough to participate it's then a matter of time.

If you want to participate, just say so and I can edit you into the original post.

The idea is still in it's fetus stage. I wouldn't assume complete justification over what we'll do with everypony just yet, we're not picking purely based on popularity.

I'm guessing the first logical step would be to spread the word to fellow composers, and discuss about the album [Skype?]. I expect it to be as diverse as the forum, but to flow nicely throughout [and have it mastered well].

I'm not sure how we'd go about mixing and quality standards since I don't want to dismiss anyone in the community, but I'd like to go about producing in a professional manner. I don't want to demotivate the new and upcoming producers!

Alrighty, if you want in say so specifically. So far we've got:
LunchBagMusic
Tarby
Voodoopony
AlexS
TheLivingTombstone
KeepOnRockin
Rainbowdutch
Zahqo

We're going to get a lot of entries but we want to narrow it down to around no more than 16 tracks or so that we feel fit the album most.

I would love to take part in this.

Provided I got the notice to possibly remaster anything were I asked to be on one.

I tend to do this thing called "improving" with each track I release so if one of my earlier tracks is deemed appropriate, I may want to improve upon its production values (or even some performances)

Shadowbolt, you don't have anything made :o

Note all tracks produced are original [as in made for the album, not previously released].
When the album is put out, the song you produced will be uploaded to your Youtubes with explanations about the cause. Unfortunately, it's not a guarantee all songs will make it on the album.
