1+3. You got it. I'll keep it General to stay true to Music First, Pony Second. Forum rules will be added.

2. Alright, then. Consider the entire Music Production forum a place to get feedback. If you feel your song needs a general review or you don't know where to start, go to General music feedback forum. If you want to concentrate on a specific problem with your track, try the other 3 forums depending on what you are concentrating on. Since the latter 3 forums will be less used for feedback than the first, they will also be used to talk about gear. In a way, everything is mixed and grey. Mods therefore don't have to do a lot of work regarding moving topics around and users don't need to worry too much about being on-topic, since all of it is music-related.

4. This is a concern. I'll figure out what to do.

5. This subforum is, well, kind of unnecessary, so I'm removing it.

6. I plan on making efforts to sort the good threads inside into the new forums.

7. If the new mods are bad then I will remove them.

8. This is a problem that PHPony can solve. An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

A reasonably paced reply deserves the same :3

1. Alright, sounds good.

2. The problem I see with that is that newer members might not know that the music production forum is for feedback as well. If you're going to do that then you should make it obvious that it's also for that (and of course that they should expect criticism in the actual music section as well).

3. Did you intentionally not address point number 3 or is that included with the response to 4?

4. Maybe a pony/nonpony split and do a bit of sorting the existing threads?

5. Fair enough.

6. Sticky some of them definitely, like 4th's frequency chart and feedback guide.

7. I'd hope so.

8. It's not prevention if it happens all the time anyway. It's just an unnecessary rule.

vman315 wrote:Page stretching is a simple fix by editing the bbcode in two files, I know I have done it on two forums. It's simply adding height and width in /includes/bbcode.php on line 421 if you are using phpbb3.0
Code: Select all
            'img'      => '<img src="$1" alt="' . $user->lang['IMAGE'] . '" style="max-width; 100%; max-height: 70%;" />',
The other edit is something I need to look into, it's been a while.

==Edit==

That is the only file that needs changing.

Wouldn't that have bad effects on large images? I know nothing about coding whatsoever, so forgive me if that's a stupid question

No it would not it would just resize them to auto fit in the space available (which is considering that this forums set to a static width of 1018px, the text area in which this comment will be placed is 791px wide at all times the available the image would fill the space available 790px) There would be no loss to the image.

=Edit=
Also it seems that since I left the forum that I pulled my edited code from is has been messed with. (Open mouth, insert foot). But its a simple fix.

=FIX FOR LARGE IMAGES=
Under /styles/%YOURTHEMEHERE%/template/ there is a file called bbcode.html, the line change
Code: Select all
<!-- BEGIN img --><img src="{URL}" alt="{L_IMAGE}" /><!-- END img -->

to
Code: Select all
<!-- BEGIN img --><img src="{URL}" alt="{L_IMAGE}" style="max-width:100%; max-height;100%;" /><!-- END img -->

And images will automatically resize as such I demonstrated here http://vman315.no-ip.org:83/testdir/php ... t=2&p=2#p2 on a test forum that I setup just to show this.

I will have to look into that. In theory it can, but that us if it is edit and use a php script and jquery to pull pull said page then redirect it. I will post something if I get it working.

If I misspell something or my sentence make logical errors its because I have been up too long.

=Edit=
It is possible yes but it would require edits to the core files that I don't feel like looking for right now. Also it would appear that if one is clicked and there are others on the same page, all of them would open. So I would say no, however I just play with php because I am bored. PHPony will most likely be able to answer that.

I recommended a different type of spoiler code over here. That's more attractive and will block youtube autoloads from clogging up a lot of pages....

I think its the same thing as the discussion above but i can't surf that site right now to confirm for sure.

Wait you mean edit the youtube bbcode to hide the video so it doesn't take up space or do you mean stop the video from loading so that people with slow internet would be able to load the page here on the forums then load video's when they click on a button for said video only?

I have been trying to get something like this to work

Yeah the second one. Even i on broadband sometimes have a hard time while those pages load up full of videos and its much more of a pain on people with far slower connections. Would be far easier for people to click on the batches of videos they are interested in then have everything on a page load up at once.

Well there is one solution

We kill

The YouTube BBCode

Or atleast figure out away to have the cover image for it and have it open in a new tab on click. I have see this before, but it's not something I have tried.

Also I'm thinking there should be sub-mods that only moderate a sub-forum allocated to them. and the only thing they can do is lock threads in said sub forum

I think we have enough mods right now to properly govern the amount of traffic MLR gets.

If ever deemed necessary, I'd like to call myself fit to fill the role though.

I have been playing with that. I have complied a method of simply pulling the thumbnail, title, length, and views, have it displayed in a small table inside an iframe, then when you click the title or the img, it will then load up the video.

Here

Was this what you were talking about?

My brain click as I realized what you meant, that can be done but I believe only with iframes, and I don't really know if there would be the same problem with as many as are in the thread you linked. I opened the thread on my derpaboutWINSRVR2012 and it crashed chrome. I will try and figure something out.
