New NI Synth Announced

With an incredibly vague teaser video

http://www.native-instruments.com/en/sp ... ntent=2391
http://createdigitalmusic.com/2013/02/n ... d-samples/

References to something called "Monark" have been found in the page source, so that's probably its name. I'm seeing an odd combination of Reaktor modules and vintage looking knobs in the video, so it's pretty unclear what's actually going on here.

Given the current sale on Komplete 8 it's likely that Komplete 9 will be coming soon and this will be included. My guess is April.

The only thing that could make this worse is if they didn't list the price of the synth when they release it. I hope that the synth is actually good though. Massive is good, let's see if they can make something just as good or better.

NI has a reputation of good plugins though, so I bet it'll be good. Razor, Massive, Kontakt, FM8, etc. are all good synths, so I trust them. They'll have to make it different then all those though (let's hope they don't make it a rompler *shudders*)

it looked directed at people that like old-school, without the bother of taking the time to learn how to manipulate Massive.

I'll consider it if it a) Is reasonably priced and b) Does something unique. Else I'm sticking with my plan on buying the Arturia CS80V

Soft synths all end up sounding similar when it comes to doing the practical normal synthesis stuff. I would be interested in this if it does something very unique with its signal flow and sound sculpting controls. NI does make great stuff so it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on.

And as per usual the video tells nothing about the synth itself. I know it has a cut off knob from watching that. I hate Native Instruments sometimes, I refuse to believe it does anything special till I actually see it do something.

It just seems like it'll be throwback for something more retro. How retro? Well, considering NI's adept ability at being secretive, I guess we'll just have to find out.

BUT I WANT IT NAAOOOOOOOOO

The first few seconds of the video look like Razor visualiser.

There are also more demos on soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/nativeinstruments ... is-coming/

From what I hear, it sounds VA-ish, has some acid bite like z3ta, and at the same time reminds me of Zebra.

It sometimes sounds muddy, though. Not sure if I like it.

Given the Reaktor components shown in the teaser I'm guessing it's some super modular synth. Maybe a stripped down version of Reaktor with components from NI's other synths along with some new ones?

Page source refers to something called "Monark", so I dunno about that. Massive 2 is confirmed in development though, might come out with Komplete 9 sometime this year.

I was joking, but cool. I really dig the sound of that synth. I haven't used any NI stuff other than Massive and a watered down Kontakt, so I'll probably check this out.
