I like how it got too many dislikes in 6 minutes.

Other than that he just seems to be a generic "EDM is shit" type troll.

2/10 try harder.

What is it with all these threads about genres and genre wars suddenly?

First off, this guy is an idiot, because he's trying to control us producers on the internet. He should realize that he can't control people via the internet because his arguments don't carry any weight.

Second off, if he doesn't like electronic music, then he shouldn't listen to it, and if he comes across it, then he should just click away and leave it at that. What does he expect? That all brony producers are suddenly going to dedicate their lives to genres of music that he likes instead of what the producer likes? I'm sure that if I said this to him, he would retort saying that wasn't what he meant, but he meant that songs about certain subjects should be certain genres. Which is, again, really stupid. I don't need to explain why it's stupid.

It's also pretty a pretty ironic comment because he doesn't realize that the fic wouldn't exist without the song.

And, sadly, he doesn't seem to be a troll, just one of those typical EDM-hating, closed-minded metal fans who only listens to metal and nothing else.

I'm going to give lulzlover59 the benefit of the doubt and assume he has a cheap pair a earbuds or speakers, and say that he thinks the original song isn't electronic, lol. But it may very well also be that he doesn't know that the first Rainbow Factory song is the original idea behind it :P

He's clearly a troll because everyone knows that Rainbow Factory works better as doom or groove or thrash than death metal.

Even taking it directly from the fanfic, ignoring the original song, I'd say that grindcore (especially goregrind) would fit better than death metal. Or even industrial metal (he seems stupid enough to think that industrial metal has something to do with factories).

itroitnyah wrote:What does he expect? That all brony producers are suddenly going to dedicate their lives to genres of music that he likes instead of what the producer likes?

I tried that. Nobody listened so I had to attempt those genres myself. Too bad I am bad at music.

I'm sure that if I said this to him, he would retort saying that wasn't what he meant, but he meant that songs about certain subjects should be certain genres. Which is, again, really stupid. I don't need to explain why it's stupid.

I agree this is probably how the conversation would go and for the most part I agree that subjects for the most part can be any genre. With a few exceptions of course. Incestuous cannibal chainsaw rape-murders should only be discussed in Death Metal, Grindcore, Industrial/Power Electronics, and maybe Speedcore. Oh, I forgot teen pop. Other than that, this is a subject that should not be touched by any genre and nobody can prove this wrong (I am definitely not asking for a Owl City-esque synthpop song about this *hint hint* *nudge nudge*).

On the more general topic, it's people like this that make me hate most all fandoms. Metalheads, Punks, Bronys, Trekkies, Extreme EDM nuts, etc. A couple of people that are so close-minded that they don't really get anything outside of their fandom and then annoy everyone else with their extreme views. It really annoys me when it gets to the point that history is re-written ex: Seeing metalheads denying that crude, untechnical punk was a major influence on their favorite genres and when the evidence is too clear for even them to ignore, claiming that hardcore is a form of metal. (Note: I know that most people are not like these extreme few. Except bronies. All bronies are 23 year old unemployed pedo neck-beards that live in their parent's basement. Everyone knows that).

Heck, I'll just show the whole conversation, just to show how stubborn he is.

Also: putting the word "music" in quotation marks. Cute.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can just classify him as a hater and leave him to boil in his own fury. I'd say, if he comes onto any other electronic song's videos, we should just troll him. If he's going to be an idiot, we should at least get a laugh out of it

Same here. I actually freaking love metal just as much as I love EDM. It's just because of these guys that I prefer not to call myself a "metalhead."

Wow, I've never seen a mean metalhead before! They are usually so nice! (NOT SARCASM! I find them a lot more accepting than most fandoms)

Anyway, genres are just silly little creativity cages created by our minds so it doesn't matter really.

Why does this thread exist?

Metal is a great form of music, but I think it's already been established that most self-proclaimed "metalheads" are elitists fuckoffs who should never be involved in an intelligent discussion of music. That's why I keep my association with them to a minimum.

I say we don't even discuss it and let sleeping assholes lie.

Rainbow Factory itself was "computer generated," so to imply that the song itself is great but to also convey a disdain for the production process used would make this YouTuber user a large hypocrite, and a class A dumb-butt.

He was talking about the fanfic, and bashing Woodentoaster's song. He seemed to think the fic inspired the song, while it's actually the other way around.

Ok, it's a comment like that really irks the Metal head in me. It's not that fact that you say you don't like Metal, it's the fact you are sarcastic about it when it's clear from your other posts that you really know nothing about Metal (indeed it sounds like you think Metal is essentially Punk from said posts), but you are talking as if you had a complete knowledge about what Metal is. It's your appearance of ignorant cockingness that pisses me off. I would have been fine if you left it at "There aren't many metal songs I genuinely enjoy listening to".

Likewise, cocky Metalheads who are ignorant of other musical genres like this guy, assuming he isn't a troll, piss me off as well. Indeed, looking at that subject, it's annoying when Metalheads refuse to admit the influence of "ugly, simplistic Punk", on their "beautiful, complex Metal".

Or I could be making a sarcastic joke aimed at people (ei: commenter screencapped) who get uppity about people disliking metal. What's this about being cocky? If I was cocky about disliking metal, I'd be cocky with calling EDM the 'god-music' or whatever you'd wanna call EDM if you were a little too passionate about it. It's just a bit of sarcasm, don't read into it.

And when you combine them (with a healthy dose of punk) you get the most hardcore music of them all: Cybergrind!
