Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I'm not sure the current situation with MLR, but I'd really recommend sticking a banner ad on the top of MLR. Perhaps not a random Google Ad, but banner ads where the users pay to advertise on them (e.g. Homestuck ads) to avoid shady links.
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I'm sure the users of MLR would love to support the forums in more ways.

I think this is a good question for Makkon.
What say you?
(I have adblock, so it makes no difference to me)

ANYTHING. However, college is sapping my spare time at the moment. MLR is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing.

Yeah, we could advertise welovefine or something, like EqD does. However, a site like this one doesn't get enough traffic for advertisers to want to pay, so we'd have to go with something like google ads. Because then the ads will change based on what you've been googling (like I get ads for acoustic panels and studio monitors, as well as computer parts).

Really? I always assumed this site got quite a bit of traffic - not an astronomical number, but a decent one.

Doubt it; you're gonna need more if you want to be picky about your advertising.

Analytics tell us that we don't get enough traffic to pay any significant portion for the site. And this isn't too expensive of a site. Good to bring it up, though, and if we ever get bigger that is something we'd like to do.

Damn. Well, I can always sacrifice a pantry for a week to help you out, I'm very happy to donate. Which is something you could organise doing with your next big competition.

I guess I'm not very versed in terms of traffic, as I thought that's quite a decent amount of traffic for such a speciality site such as this.

For a site as directed as this one, it is an ok number, but general music forums get more traffic. Just look at boyinaband's forums, the kvr, and whatever other forums.
