If you ask me, the list is dominated by the bigger artists, which to me is a double edged sword. These guys are popular for a reason, they have top notch stuff, but being a guy rooting for the underdog, I would appreciate having more lesser knowns in the list. While guys like Mando and Bronyfied have several entries here, people like Silva Hound only have one, and others I'm huge fans of (Claire Anne Carr for instance) have none.

I'm not sure how the list was conceived, but my suggestion would be limit two songs per artist to be on next year's list, that way everyone will be happy: People who are fans of the flagship musicians and people who like seeing smaller artists get their time in the limelight. The brony music scene is much to big to have a bias. This site is a testament to that, as I've heard primo stuff from most people here, but they're constantly overshadowed and snubbed. On a lighter note, I see our own Makkon has a song higher up on the list, so props to you, man.

Anyway, any of you have thoughts on the list?

I can't say I'm surprised at any of these. I fully expected the popular guys to dominate the list, and in a way they deserve it. As Pick said, they're popular for a reason. It's just annoying seeing the same guys everywhere

1) is this in order

2) Did you form this list, or did you get it from a source? If so, could you provide a link to the source?

The source of the list can be found here.

Also, this is taken from the Youtube video:
The Process:
The song places were determined by public voting of tracks they liked on our website over the past 9 months as they played, partially normalized for their exposure time on the station, so older tracks did not have an unfair advantage over newer tracks simply for being available for voting longer.

This was the result of a 'popular vote' of the populace, as such, it directly reflects song popularity.
I like to think I'm well-rounded because I'm not really good at anything.

Exactly. Just as we don't consider the Billboard Top 100 to be the best music, but only the catchiest, this is not exactly a measure of musical merit.

Brony pop music is a thing.

Well the omissions bug me the most. As some people said Cyril the Wolf, Tarby, And The Rainfall, Derpedity, Sub Sound, SGAP (for crissakes), etc didn't make the list which i think is a shame (especially when some people made the list MULTIPLE times). I guess I'd rather see an even bigger list if they have stats for 200 as the 101-200 likely would be as solid quality if not better in places. I was floored to see my remix at #94 as i didn't bother to even look the first time i checked it out. I think artists that put great quality consistantly but don't have certain tracks peak more than others do suffer (sgap).

Guess I'd love to see more lists so if you wanna add your choices please put them in our own mlr personal lists viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6243 If think even a list of 100 tracks like Everfree is gonna miss out on so much quality music from the year. That's why the idea of Sabrespark's Top 25 polling offended me even more.

Tomb made the list 8 times. Glaze made it 5 times. Literally over 1/10 of these two songs were these guys' songs in some respect. At least Glaze's were almost all collabs, but seriously.

And that's terrible.

I remember the days when Tomb was just Glaze's little buddy. Then Tombface happened. Now he's THE most popular artist. I guess people (his fans) really like his stuff and just like the idea of putting a name with a face. Guess he had the same success rate in 2011 though too but just continued that streak.

Case in point. All these songs made the 2011 list on Everfree + Celestia Radio's Top Lists.

The Living Tombstone - Sister Hate (ft. Mic The Microphone) (Both)
The Living Tombstone - Party Cannon
The Living Tombstone - Like a Spinning Record
The Living Tombstone - Winter Wrap Up (Tomb’s Remix)
The Living Tombstone - September (ft. Mic The Microphoe and PinkieSkye)
The Living Tombstone, Mic The Microphone, and Jackleapp - Good Ol' Days
DJ Alex S. + The Living Tombstone - Party With Pinkie (The Living Tombstone's Remix)

I think that if Glaze worked as fast as Tomb he would be just as, if not more popular. In my opinion, Glaze's songs are musically superior than Tomb's. But because Tomb puts out 'pretty good' songs on a fairly regular basis, it made him more popular than Glaze, who puts out 'great' songs on a much slower basis.

Just some food for thought

I'm shocked that Cyril didn't make it either. He's currently one of my favorites (Helps that he's a great guy to boot), and I figured he'd be a shoe-in. Still it seems like they went ahead and put TLT's entire 2012 discography here.

I like some of these songs, but truth be told I was expecting a more diverse list: New/upcoming artists and something that's not +50% EDM (yeah yeah I'm a hypocrite. whatever I enjoy my hiphop/hard rock/metal too) but whatever, I can't necessarily complain much about the list. I didn't even start jumping into this till Sep. this year but either way I'm not all that surprised.

I'll admit I often listen to the same songs over and over rather than take the time to jump on MLR/EQB/YT/ED's MotD and listen/download new music but to constantly listening to it year round? Goes to show you radio and their "Top 100" list is the same regardless where it is. Doesn't matter, so long as everyone's happily enjoying their music.

There is no way of having a fair top 100. The system is broken and will always be broken. All you can do about it is complain and cause pointless drama, which is exactly what everyone is doing. I just wish they didn't...

Keep in mind that there was only one NEW track on that Seasons ep. 3 of those were from previous Toast Beards in mid 2011 i think. Not sure why Spring was not on their though as that was the 2012 entry....

I want to throw up a little (especially at Tomb's Discord remix, Archie's Love is in Bloom remix, Pony Rock Anthem and The Massive Smile Project being in the top 20).

EDIT: Also, I'm joining the group wondering how SGAP didn't get on. At least Deae Lunae made it.

This list has lots of my favorite songs. idk what all the fuss is about. So Tomb, Sim, and Bronified made it on the Everfree radio and people tuned in! Hooray for them!

p.s. funny how woodentoaster enterprises by Dr.Dissonance isn't on there. Oh wait. It's a radio station and they play what they want and not what I want. *scrunchy face*

It's not so much the fact those superstars are on the list (Hell, I'm happy for them, esp. Bronyfied as a personal friend), but it's just that a lot of them have multiple songs. They may as well put every song TLT did in 2012, but from what I've heard either in this thread or when I talked to Bronyfied about this, this wasn't Everfree's personal list, but rather the listeners. Pop radio is pop radio, brony or otherwise. I'm sure if there was a top 250 or so, it'd be a little more varied (I bet even one of my tracks would make it.....Fat chance, I know. ).

So like I said, it's what the listeners want, and they obviously love Mando and TLT and others, while some favorites in the music community (Like Matthew Mosier) got one song or none. As for the Massive Smile Project, I'm glad they made it, since it was a valiant effort, but technically Mando did do the instrumentation, so IDK is this counts as something he did or not.

EDIT You are right she's on there 3 times. Sorry for only seeing the Tombstone featured song.

Discarding a whole list that was based on votes and plays though is silly. Are there gaps, massive repetition in artists, and oversights? Absolutely.

Much slower cause he's lazy.

But yeah, Glaze can make a really catchy, interesting track, but it's been like forever since he had a song come out. I wonder what he's been up to....
