Kontakt Instrument - Bowed Guitar + Community Proposal

Postby senntenial » 30 Dec 2012 18:34

I'm by no means a professional sampler, but I try to do what I can for fun. Today I wanted to sample something interesting - I knew about 8dio's bowed piano... so how about a bowed guitar? I recorded an octave and a bunch of effects with both the guitar and a violin. You can listen below, and get the thing free off my website (runs on Kontakt FULL). It runs a SIPS code, which means you can have complete control over legato/portamento. It also has a convolve effect.

I even made a fancy graphic:

But I'd like to find out something more of you guys. How cool would it be to do some community sourced sampling? I'd like to set up something in the near future where you guys can sample whatever you have (guitars, pianos, drums, just hitting off walls) and submit them to me. I'll run the good ones through Kontakt, and create some patches to host off my site (crediting everyone involved, of course.) I think we could make some awesome stuff. Anyone be interested in that?

And just a friendly reminder that I have a bunch of free stuff like massive patches on my site if you ever feel so inclined to check it out! I'm starting to redo my graphics and I like how it's turning c:

Community sourced sampling sounds pretty cool, although I have no idea what I could do to contribute to it.
I like to think I'm well-rounded because I'm not really good at anything.

I just tried out the bowed guitar, and lemme say it's gonna get a fair amount of use!

Edit: I've always wanted to put together a soundpack for a cello that reaches into the lower 50hz range for super-bass. I'd give the sounds but I have no idea how to script for Kontakt. Could this be a project you'd be willing to help out on?
