Who are your Influences?

A thread where you can post your influences on your music

I have alot of influences, but I only feel that the credit should rest in Aphex Twin's arms.
He was my childhood hero, his style is known to me, and my knowledge has carried throughout my music

Tons of soundtracks. Most notably: Elder Scrolls anything, Batman, Wolf 3D, League of Legends themes they do about every other week, Halo... etc. etc etc... noone wants to read this part anyways...

Brony music stuff from demented clasical to orchestral hybrid to brostep and beyond: Dr. Dissonance, Jeff the Strider, NotACleverPony, Archie, Aviators...

Seriously, this community has talent and has probably influenced me permanently.

The Silent Hill soundtracks.
Bong-Ra
Venetian Snares

and a lot of random inspiration coming into my mind like an out of control monster. Also, accidentally making a good sound and deciding to build tracks around it. That counts right?

Dream Theater. Definitely John Petrucci is my biggest influence.

Other than that, the list of my influences is way too long for one post.

I like like a shit ton of music and get inspired constantly

But I guess some of the people who have influenced me most would be:

Tool
A Perfect Circle
Karnivool
Cex
Aphex Twin
Venetian Snares
Pendulum
This Town needs Guns
Old Video game soundtracks (Metroid, Megaman, Sonic, etc.)
BT
Squarepusher
She
Prototype Raptor

Though often it's just whatever I'm listening to during that time.
Though I have to say Tool has to be the band that's musically influenced me the most ever, like I just fell in love with their style and a lot of the weird technical things they love to shove into their songs - not to mention when I was first learning bass their bassist was the sort of thing I wanted to strive to be like.

Honestly with this list you'd expect I'd produce more rock, I'm just too perfectionist about little things that I can never get past my horrid guitar tone.... I really need to look into getting a good sound more sometime, I have all the tools at my disposal.

for singing: sarah vaughan, ella fitzgerald, amy winehouse, janelle monae, janis joplin, dana fuchs, bjork, freddie mercury. i like them all for style, interpretation, and ability to convey emotion. vaughan, fitzgerald and monae for all those things and vocal technique. freddie for showmanship. :)

sadly, not many for ukulele, just jake shimabukuro for general ukulele prowess.
