NewWorldMare wrote:That's really bad, and it's terrible you won't be able to go to Bronycon ): I broke my leg about six months ago - I was in a cast for twelve weeks, and I'm still not as strong in the leg I broke. Physically, I can tell you that it's going to take a long time to recover - definitely longer than you expect or the doctors will tell you. But the best way to get full use of your arm back (once it's out of the cast) is to use it as much as possible. I got off crutches as soon as I could and started walking normally. Second, physiotherapy is actually a good idea. It may seem like a hassle, but it'll get your hand back to normal a lot faster. I regret not having done it sooner. And don't be brave - take pain medication whenever you need it.
Psychologically... it's going to take some getting used to. Even with a broken arm, I can imagine that the loss of independence will be pretty severe. I remember bitching a lot and in general being really mean to those who were trying to help me. Part of that was because of the pain, but I was also frustrated by my lack of independence. So my advice is to remember that people are just trying to help you out.
