Hitting the music-maker "wall"

Postby Sinn Ick » 23 Mar 2012 00:24

Well, i had a decent song going, then it got erased, fun, i want to make an electric/dubstep-ey song, but i hit a wall, and i can't seem to get into the music like my last peice. Anyone know where i can get tutorieals showing how to make a song in full, like how to use piano roll and synth to get good sounds and stuff, i have some beats, but even with piano roll they don't sound good. After so many failed attemps, hours lost, and no results, its getting really demoralizing.
So if you guys know, can you shoot me in the direction of:
>tutorial that shows piano roll/synth to create electric type songs
>cool/good loops for trance/electric songs
>any ideas how to get into the music again.

It takes a lot of time to get anywhere in electronic music, just keep tring to learn one new thing a day. Watch a ton of youtube tutorials and read about production on the many forums out there. It may be best to work at it in your daw for an hour or two and then take a short break about an hour long and repeat. That helped me when I first started. From what I have been told the biggest step to getting better is too "finish" songs no matter how much you think they suck, just finish them.

Thats all I got for now, hope it helps in any way.

Oh god, this. I think everything I make sounds horrible especially while I'm in the process of making it but when I "finish" the song I feel so much better about it. Even when I still think it sounds horrible I'm glad that I finished it off and with each track I make I feel less and less terrible about the way it sounds.
