Identity Crisis (I need a Name)

Ok, so the deal is I've been running with Bactatanker for 3 years, and now that I'm getting more professional with my work (honestly it was just my gamertag to start with) I'm trying to ditch the name and make a new one. But a month's gone by and I've got diddly squat. Does anypony have any bright ideas for me to chew on? I know there's not a whole lot to go on, but I just need some fresh ideas.

stop suggesting names, start suggesting name generating methods:

1. shorten your current name, i.e. bactank
2. intentional mispronunciation, i.e. bektak or batentre or something
3. spoonerisms, i.e. tectbank
4. probably some other stuff

of course, all of those can be applied to other words too.

mess around with these and go with whatever sticks out to you.

This is the kinda thing I was looking for, something to get my brain rolling. I'll experiment.

Okay... all jokes aside...
A good way to find a name for yourself is to take some aspect of yourself, no matter how small, and turn it into a name somehow. Make sure it's not entirely out of place with what you do.

I got bigBerd because I've gotten a handful of comments saying I look like Big Bird. So I decided to take that and tweak it a bit, making Big Berd my stage name (later dropping the "Big"). I've also used the name E. Nygma as an alternative stage name/rap persona every now and then, named after The Riddler for my love of superhero comics and my villainous subject matter. 2xN is an internet handle, but I generally use it for non-music related business, because algebraic equations just ain't gangsta enough.

None of these names are very creative, cool, or eye-catching, but it doesn't matter because they are mine. Because the name in and of itself isn't worth much. What really matters is the time and effort put in by the creator while he wears the name. "Big Berd" is more than just a corny Sesame Street reference to me -- it's a culmination of every single rhyme I've written since I was sixteen years old.

In summation, it doesn't matter where your name comes from, it's about where you go with it. Make a name, then make it yours. Good luck.


P.S. make sure it's easy enough to pronounce. No one's gonna wanna remember the works of C00LP Æstuf.
