The hugging/venting thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

But it's probably the closest you can come to being a girl. Hm, that's a real shame. I guess for now having a boyfriend would be the closest you can get, besides dressing in women's clothing, wearing making, etc. Hopefully things go well for you in your dilemma.

Yea I guess it's the best thing... The main thing that annoys me is not having a child hood as a girl

Well, if anything, it'll make you more levelheaded. You'll know what it's like growing up on both sides of the street. More on one side than the other, but you'll have experience in both :)

I'm doing pretty well now. I'm getting used to being sociable with people I don't know, and my self confidence has been improving a fair bit lately. I'm also gonna stop dilly-dallying about my music with people, it's been put out in the open already, so going back to hiding it would be silly.

So yeah, I'm doing better.

Anyone notice how no conventions are in the Southeast US? That sucks, that's my exact geographical location, and the only Georgia cons got cancelled for God knows why. I am beyond pissed at that, by the way.

It's probably because of the larger population mass farther east. And those large cities in the east are more for the poor, or the ones who aren't rich enough to live out in the West, which the only really notable cities that the average american can name out west are San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angelos. And those cities have more of the rich bitch people, so I can understand why they would place the cons out east. That's a shame that you can go though. I can't either though. Too poor :3

I really should be a decent student. I never read the books in English, I don't give two craps about Spanish, Science and social studies are freaking easy as hell, and math is really easy too, but I never do the homework. I also have a 1800+ Lexile, if any of you guys know what that means.

In other words, I'm a B/B+ student when I really should be an A. (I still get on honor roll tho)

@9V: Note that if you try to skip a math class on your own, you have to do a LOT of studying on your own. I'm a soph in Alg2 right now, and in my junior year, I'll be in AP Cal AB. I have to do Precal work already on my own, and it eats up a good amount of time.

Remember those really close friends I mentioned? Well...one of them is moving away..Mind you, to the next city over, but I very rarely get time to go out that way. And it gets better, I found out during work. So now I'm huddled up in my office trying to keep my mind off it so I don't loose my self control...and I'm scared to leave...

I am busy with theater stuff every day after school until like 4:00, and my IB English in-class written major is tomorrow. Other than that, I have a pre-calc test on Wednesday and I need to study. Also I have French homework to do tonight.

Well, as long as you're putting the things that you want to do good at before the things that you don't want to be good at as much as other things, you should be fine.

I personally am not going to pass my math class (unless I get really good grades on my test and finals which are both within this or next week), and I can't say that I care too much, because I've been held back from advancing through math classes so many times. I first took algebra in 7th grade, and didn't pass until 9th grade. I also failed my advanced english 9 class with a C (which was at an F the previous semester of the year). Um, I have never really been the brightest bulb in the box, but I sure have been good at the things I've wanted to be good at, and I'm happy with that :)

but if all of those are important to you, then I feel bad man. I haven't really ever experienced days or times where I would have a lot going on that I would feel is important for school

They're all important in the sense that each grade factors into whether or not I can get into college.

Oh, alright. I personally think that colleges should just work on a "pay to get it" factor, and the colleges/courses that cost more simply have the better teachers. And the SAT didn't determine what colleges you could go to, it would determine how much financial aid you get from the government for college. And that graduating from HS wasn't a requirement for college, because honestly, I'm fairly certain I can take some of the beginning level college music courses, with a bunch of effort. And they should also make the extracurricular courses in HS more rewarding (like, if you can design a good car in your engineering class, you'll get a scholarship or something, or maybe even payed by car manufacturers) and you don't necessarily have to attend the junior and senior years of HS. Also, you shouldn't be required to take a certain amount of math classes if you aren't going into a field that requires you to know how to calculate an inscribed angle of a circle. They should just require you to know the basics of life, and whatever field of study you want to go into you can take classes on, and whatever else you want/need. It should be about rewarding the ones that put effort into what they do, not forcing the unmotivated students who don't want to study history for a living to do good in the class. That way it wouldn't be about "I have to do good on my SAT otherwise my future will be really slowed down and I'll be at a disadvantage", it'll be about "I want to do good on my SAT because it'd be really nice to get a good scholarship". The students you see always bitching about classes they hate would be allowed to just take the engineering class they want to take, and would be told the other classes they should take that would help them out and a good reason why they should take them, and they wouldn't complain about school as much. I think that the general school attitude would improve greatly.

inb4 this thread turns into a discussion about changing the education system.

Before I go on, hugs for all :)

This is clearly the worst possible thing to happen to anyone:

Alright, so next semester I'm taking an intro to electronic music class, for several reasons (namely, easy credits, easy A, plus I had to take it if I was gonna take beginning guitar). And guess what.

The school uses Garageband.

Let me just let that sink in.

Fucking GARAGEBAND

Dear god what do I do gaiz?

It's a school. Big corporations sell out to them anyways to promote their garbage so that kids will get used to their products and comfortable, hereby making that corporation their company of choice to buy from.

But I suppose garage band isn't all that bad. It may not be top notch, but every DAW has its down sides. I used garage band about once before back in 6th grade, and I didn't have a bad time with it or anything. Just bring your daw of choice on a flashdrive and ask your teacher if you can use your daw instead of garage band. I'm sure the teacher will let you

Well, it's been forever since I've been around here to activate attention whore mode, but eh.

I just feel like shit right now. No idea why. I tried working on a song and got next to nothing done in the ~3 hours I spent in FL. I've been having headaches daily for over a week now, and I'm pretty sure that's only because I decided to drink out of a smaller fucking coffee mug. First day back to school was alright, I definitely missed seeing all of my IRL friends, but I did little more than sit around for the better part of each class. And tomorrow are my two hard-as-fuck classes, neither of which I'm looking forward to. And there's the idea that this is my last semester of high school. After this, I have to deal with my goddamn future, which I feel like I've prepared for awfully, if at all. I expect to horribly choke at my audition for Berklee, which means I'll probably be stuck with a crappy school. And most of my friends desperately want to at least get out of this town, while I'm only even applying to two school out of the fucking state. And since I'll be juggling inevitably challenging college courses and music, and will probably have to be careful with whatever financial aid I end up getting, and since I'm seeing family in two states this coming summer before heading off to school, there's no spot in the foreseeable future when I'll have anything resembling a chance to go and see my boyfriend at the other fucking end of the country.

Sigh.

Normally I have little trouble acting like everything's fine, and that everything will work out nicely. What the fuck happened.
