Which OS do you use to Make music

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I used mac, but stopped when I built my pc. Now I can't look back from W7, though I keep my old macbook around.

Specs copied from Newegg:
Intel i7-2600 3.4GHz
8gb ram
Radeon HD 6950 w/ 2 gigs RAM

^above: I think it would all be relative for the time period; 2000/ME hardly support anything right now, and all support for XP will be dropping in less than two years (there's no more mainstream support). also, 7 runs better than XP.

Wait, you didn't get a 2600k...? The difference is like 5 bucks, and the performance gain from OCing is soooooo worth it.

*Shrug* Different strokes for different folks. Windows 7's been the most hassle-free out of any I've used yet. It is a bit bloated, but then, that's Windows for you.

And the "YOU MUST RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AND I'M NOT GOING TO STOP BUGGING YOU ABOUT IT UNTIL YOU DO" automatic updates are kinda irritating, I admit.

The more you know. Though granted, I'd do a lot of things differently the next time around.

I thought the same about Windows XP for awhile, and avoided upgrading to 7 for a longggg time.

It takes like, maybe a week, to get used to Windows 7 if you're already familiar with XP, but 7 so far has been more stable, runs faster, and doesn't hang up as often as XP did.

But seriously... windows 8 isn't stable... at all... because it's a release preview right now and they're still working on it, so don't use it until the finish product where it won't be stable, but it'll still be much more stable than it is... right now lol.

Yet another assumption by people who think Metro changes the whole look of Windows 8.

Windows 8 is stable, compatible, faster than 7, and Metro is absolutely fine.

I WILL back up that Windows 8 is faster. But I won't back up that it's stable unless it's drastically changed since I used it last. Plus, Metro actually drives me crazy. So I guess to each their own, I'll be sticking to 7 for a while.

Still some security issues - especially the 16 digit password limit; and while you guys probably don't have to worry about it, there's the WinRT API issue on ARM which fucks up tons of stuff with JIT compiling(Lua, Chrome, PyPy, and some others).

but hell, I'm running Arch Linux with enough paranoid customizations to make Crazy Twilight jealous, I probably don't represent the average, sane user.

Have you used the release preview or the conusmer preview? The metro on both are completely different

I wouldn't like Mac OS because I hate grey. I don't know if you can change the color of it but aesthetically Windows has become far better, especially with Aero. And in Windows 8, they replaced almost all grey with light blue, so it looks fantastic.

Mac OS still has a huge compatibility issue, but as they are bringing more stuff to it, they are making it more vulnerable to viruses. Viruses for macs do exist people, and if you get more people to use different programs for it, the more hackers will find it a good target. Unix isn't a holy unhackable system.

Windows still has a big virus and security issue but nothing free protection like Avast and an MBAM scan cannot fix, so it all comes down to PCs vs MACs really.

I still love Dr. Dr-
I still love Macs layout, and I love the grey colour scheme, but I'm just a boring person I guess.
It's just nice to not have to worry as much about system malfunctions or hardware incompatibilities.

Hardware incompatibilities? Wut? I actually think that Macs are more likely to have hardware incompatibilities, given that you can't really upgrade them as easily as a PC. Look at all the rage that was on the SC2 forums when support for 10.5.8 was dropped, since Apple dropped support for that OS pretty quickly (under a decade). I think Macs have more problems with compatibility, since OS X cycles a lot faster than Windows, since Boot Camp doesn't always work properly, and since developers tend to botch support with OS X.

Of course, I guess the rest of your reasoning is valid, and you aren't really giving dumb reasons. OS X is typically regarded as more stable than Windows, even though I have no issues with stability.
