So how do you react to hate comments on your music?

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I usually just let them sit there. If most of my viewers are bronies, the comments that don't express love an tolerance will get downvoted anyway.

I really only respond to questions, or specific feedback.

I've never really gotten actual hate comments on anything. Of course, I have a few friends that just like to mess around with me sometimes (Example: Coming over to the first song I got on EqD and saying it was terrible) but I know they aren't serious about it.

But anyways, how to deal with haters. Find out why they hated it, and decide whether their reasons make sense. I mean, if you have someone going "I hate this song because it's dubstep" and saying absolutely nothing else after you try figuring out why, well, they're just being closed minded, and it's best to just leave them go. If they didnt like it and they're giving you advice on little things to fix, don't take it personally! Talk with them, get more advice, move on.

my rule of thumb: Don't feed the trolls.

Just ignore them.

Bottom line is, if they don't like the music, why are they listening to it? Nobody is forcing them to.

Hehhehe... Maybe they didn't know they weren't going to like the song, and they just clicked it because they thought they might like it?

Sorry. I just have to point out stuff like this >_< And don't say "Well why would they leave a comment?" because that's actually quite irrelevant to what had been said.

And then, with a cloud of dust, I disappear.

That is the worst logic ever. People click on the song to hear it. If they dislike it, they can say that they didn't like it. It's called a comment section, not a compliment section. It's absolutely normal for people to say how they feel about your music.

It's "how do you react to hate comments" rather than "how do you react to criticism". I would much prefer someone tell me my track is subpar and explain to me why than saying "You suck chode, eat shit and die".

I wasn't referring to general comments on how they don't like the music, I like criticism.

I'm talking about comments about how I should go hang myself, and they harass over several uploaded videos, and downvote everything regardless of what it is, etc.

Sorry that wasn't clear.

I never got any real hate, just criticism, either here or on YouTube, but I always take it to heart, despite having a low amount of self confidence. I just view it as people helping me get better rather than say lol ths sux lolololol.

I've only had one negative comment so far. (Guess I'm not popular enough yet!) It was just saying that my voice wasn't the best, but that felt like a stab in the throat. I don't know if I could handle death threats like that! I applaud you guys for your perseverance.

I only got one thumb down on a video/music because a guy IRL kept saying I didn't make it and I did.
Other than that though, the only real likely reason I don't get hate comments is because no one knows me...
I'm kinda... just there... in that lonely corner in youtube again...

write news articles from your own perspective, and you'll get plenty of hate.

Not a whole lot you can learn from those kind of hate comments.

I occasionally get "hate" on my projects, but it is fairly seldom. I let the comments lie as they are and just don't respond to things that seem to have no purpose other than to be derisive and insulting (examples: "Arch Enemy/Cradle of Filth ripoff" and "Hot Topic shit").

I think the worst I've ever experienced is a little Reddit section called "Worst Music Ever" under which Pandora's Toybox song and video for "Misbegotten Candy" was posted. Some haters were expressing curses for being unable to get the song out of their head, which I took as compliments. Otherwise, I just decided to thank everyone for watching and say that I was honored to be talked about. No replies were made after that, but I took it all with a smile as best as I could.

:)

So, a little snark, a lot of confidence, and all as polite and kind as you can be, if you even choose to respond (which often is just not worth the energy in the first place). That's my two bits.
