You mean under his monitors? That would be foam to reduce vibrations between the monitors and the desk. I do the same with mine and I would suggest everyone put foam under their monitors (for those that have monitors that is).

It really helps to have connections. My mastering engineer friend is helping me gather up a respectable set of equipment so that we can convert my garage into a studio, and once it's all set up, I'll actually be able to post something worthwhile here

The latest Internet Explorer is really good, it's just as fast and it looks really nice, so I don't see why not, even though I don't use it.

Always did and always will use FF. Very stable, clean and simple in use.
