The hugging/venting thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

If the moment to you feels right, then do it, it's all about how YOU feel instinctively at that time. You will know the time is right, you will feel it.

Now I don't know what, or who Sigur Ros is, but it sounds classical, atleast to me, also because it's in a theatre. I feel that it could just be that right setting.

Like I said, wait for you to FEEL that moment, when you do, don't hold back.

And now time for me to vent, my right ear is fully plugged right now, has been since Friday, and probably will be until mid next week. This really sucks because it limits me so much right now when I've been continuously making more music, which is something I usually have breaks with... but not of late.. Until now of course.

Oh ok this has happened to me a number of times so I kinda know how to fix it. Not really, just how to prevent it. I don't know how to actually get rid of the plug in your ears, because last time that happened to me I went to the doctor and then shot me in the head with a super soaker (which worked). But what you have to do to prevent this from happening, is that (this will sound very weird) pour a little olive oil IN YOUR EAR every time you take a shower, then rise it out and let it drain. Then the earwax blockage will just slide out. I mean, it's amazingly simple for the doctors to fix and probably you could just wash it yourself, and then it would just disappear like that. Like my ear has never been blocked for more than a day.
Also Sigur Ros isn't classical but they are kind of classical influenced. It's a post-rock band from Icrland, they make the most beautiful music ever. And yes some of it can be verrrryy sweet and romantic (like try listening to this without crying http://vimeo.com/3986821 )

@topit
Going to back to the topic on the girl. If you wait for the "right time", there's a decent chance you will never find it. It's like those really good single use items in RPGs (especially Rougelikes). You save them for the right time and then die because you didn't want to use the items. The right time is simply when you use it. So at the concert just tell her how you feel. Also is she getting there/leaving the concert? Because if she does happen to reject you (which I think is unlikely) and you are riding back together then have some sort of topic ready or something to prevent awkward silence. Even if she doesn't reject you that's still a good idea because awkward silences are awkward.

As far as how to tell her, I dunno. Maybe just say "I like you". I don't think it's worth telling her the 3 years part though. But do what your gut tells you (unless it tells you to chicken out).

On a vaguely related note (Don't kill me! I don't mean to derail!), do you know of bands like Low or Sun Kil Moon (so slowcore and slowcore influenced folk). You might like them, based on what you've said you like around this forum.

Ghelded_kultz, that RPG thing makes total sense. That is exactly how I feel (except I've never played an RPG except for Munchkin lol) so yeah if she does end up going to this concert then I will hopefully work up the courage to at least say something.
However I'm afraid it's not as simple as just liking someone... When I first met her I didn't like her at all (I was also a little bit scared... She is very um, shocking?) So then we both ended up at a sort of summer camp together and we didn't know anybody else there besides each other so we just started hanging out and stuff and that's when we became really close friends. And I kind of felt a deep connection with her, like I could tell her anything. So in that sense it is more of a "romanticized" love rather than a simple crush if that makes any sense... But maybe keeping my own words simple would be for the best. But aaah I don't want her to think that I've only been her friend because I am "interested" wahtever that means (BECAUSE THAT'S NOT TRUE) wtf am I even talking about maybe I should just wait until we're both like ancient and then propose to her right there instead of going through the whole "teen dating" crap... What I just want her to know
What the hell am I talking about? That music especially Sun Kil Moon is really amazing, thanks for sharing! :)

Here's me thinking the only way to actually say how I feel is by writing a song but love dogs are hard to write without making them sound very cliché. Death Cab for Cutie did a good job.)

pretty much lost a potential friend because opposite sex. I try to be friendly and get to know a bit about them like any other friend and they freak out like I want to date and all that none-sense. I just wanted to be friends.

That, and someone that used to be one of my best friends has recently been deliberately and rudely ignoring me when I try to greet them.

good gravy is there any way on earth to become friends with a female on a deeper level than simply acquaintances.

so maybe I'm a little burnt out right now.

Well, that happened to me, lol. Not that I was trying to. I wasn't trying to do anything, except for the fact that I'm friends with like EVERYBODY.

@Topit, I actually was doing that before I posted it haha! I was going to get it flushed possibly after the holiday's (because they're closed), but after consistently doing the oil technique for the past 3 days, it's cleared up.

So I was helping fold laundary and my mom was ironing and she didn't look to see where I was and went to point to a piece of clothing with the iron and stabbed me in the arm with a hot iron.

Today I kinda fucked up my future... I missed an appointment with the college I'm probably (hopefully) going to, which would be my stairway to conservatoire... This sucks...

All I had to do was NOT cycle home after school but cycle to my mom at work. And I forgot.
Dad got pissed when I entered my home (that's also when I found out, after seeing I got 5 missed calls and 3 angry text messages from mom), mom's probably going to fire the whole of her verbal arsenal at me. I'm scared. My mom isn't nice when she's angry... Not going into detail there.

Why the hell am I making myself feel extra bad by listening emotional Chillstep music? I don't get myself sometimes. (Oh wait I understand why I do it, it's because it secretly helps me calm down when my head's a stormy sea (that's how I call it; might explain some time).)

I'm pretty much fucked, mom's gonna stop supporting me (meaning I gotta motivate myself on my own) and dad is actually back-to-friendly already, but that only adds up to the bad feeling. Because he's so silent... Ugh, why did I have to forget? Stupid Geocaching assignment... SCHOOL, DON'T EVER DO SOMETHING SPECIAL WITH OUR CLASS AGAIN! MAKES ME FORGET STUFF, K?

Not much of a baw story in general, but more or less a pissed off kind of story.

Basically I'm forced to take Independent Study classes for my major classes(IE Advanced Audio Production and MIDI and Sampling) because both classes were cancelled and I needed the credits. What's been happening is that I have not learned anything at all from doing Independent Study, I have been given no guidelines or set directions, i'm basically forced to do this all on my own. To make matters worse my college has constantly been giving me the runaround for a few months now, saying they are working on fixing things, yet nothing gets done due to so much red tape.

to make matters worse I graduate this fall and i'm worried I won't have the skills needed to go out and get a job in the audio engineering field.

Plant + co2 = glucose, oxygen
Plant takes in sunlight via the chloroplasts in the leaves (where the chlorophyll is located)
Plant takes in carbon dioxide via the stomata on the undersides of the leaves
The photosynthesis itself takes place in the chloroplasts as well, but that's not the only place photosynthesis can occur in nature. For example, photosynthetic bacteria do not have chloroplasts.
Glucose is stored by the plant for later consumption, and the byproduct oxygen is dispersed via the stomata of the leaf.

That's all I remember from 2 years ago.

Haha thanks Nine Volt... That stuff is all I can remember too. I'm supposed to know really in-depth crap like photosystems and Electron Transport Chain and thylakoids. And the Calvin Cycle. I have no idea how I'm going to do this because the whole test is short answer so I will essentially have to explain everything.

I had to learn this last year and it sucked and I'm never used it since, so I doubt it really matters.
