Continuing the new topic:
"Skrillex! We have something for you!" says OWSLA's head secretary as he hands Skrillex a CD. "What is it?" says Skrillex. "It's an audio file that will enhance your music-making skills tenfold! But it has the side effect of turning you into a pony." says the secretary. "Oh shit, I get to be better at music AND be a pony? I hope I become Vinyl Scratch, she's my favorite." Skrillex listens to the file, and begins to change. His body doubles in mass, flesh turning into a softer, marshmallow form, inexplicably attaining purple shaded sunglasses. He gets up, and says "Wow, it really worked! I better go and try to make some music." But Skrillex cannot produce with hooves.

For those wondering, astrology might be a pseudo-science, but not hypnosis. Hypnosis is just a particular state of hyper-focus to the point where someone forgets about the context they are in, everything except what they are concentrating on, even why they are even concentrating in the first place, a disjunction from reality occurs. The reason why a hypnotized person does what they are told is because they simply aren't thinking about the commands they are given, they just do it. That's why you can't force a person to be hypnotized, and a hypnotized person wouldn't do something they wouldn't normally do. Escape Artists are known for hypnotizing themselves so that they can avoid the pain and everything and just concentrate on escaping. I'm assuming this mainly works on you fooling yourself into thinking you are a pony.

Alright, tried it again, and got through almost listening to the fluttershy one a second time in a row before I got bored. Lol, I guess I don't have the patience to do this very well. I'd have to try it at a different time, like when I'm going to bed or something. What I experienced during the 1.5 times I listened to the fluttershy one was a lot of imagery. My limbs felt like they were falling asleep and my thumbs or toes would sometimes twitch. I guess it can work, but it works better if you're really tired. Haha, I might have to try it and one point in time when I'm about to go to bed :P

Reminds me of that I-Doser thing ("binaural beats" that would cause hallucinations and stuff) I used to be crazy about a few years ago. Tried one called "opium" and freaked out because it made my vision all hazy and I felt generally sluggish, but I didn't realize those were just the symptoms of laying down with your eyes covered for a little while. In other words, this reeks of placebo.

Not that I would want to try it anyway since personally I find the whole idea of it kinda creepy (see my earlier reaction image). Interesting experiment would be to have someone who would be open to the idea try it out without telling him what it does beforehand.

That's what it is, binaural beats.

As for the second section you wrote, if you read more into the google document, you can find out what it does beforehand. It essentially makes you feel like you have hooves and are a pony. Makes it hard to walk and do stuff, lol, but then it will wear off.

Oh, I know what it does. I was saying for experimental purposes you can have someone try them out without telling them what it does, to see whether it actually works or it's placebo. Because science.

Well, you know how science goes. You'll never truely know until you try it on yourself. Now try it, lol

But I know what it does, therefore placebo can still be a factor.

I think you'd have to know what it does, since you're trying to trick your mind into thinking a certain way. It's not some weird magical thing that will make you do something against your will.

The mind can really be messed with. I've seen someone build themselves up into giving themself a seizure, and also others knocking themselves unconcious. I've seen pain intesified simply because of the mind. There's the gag where you stick a cold iron on someone's back which flips them out. Both the senses and imagination are attached to the brain.

So I don't think the question would be whether it would work on not, but rather why you want want to do it.

^ this. The mind is hella weird. Preliminary research has found that you can experience the placebo effect even if you know you're taking a placebo! I guess the brain is most receptive to desire and willingness. (Well, really, it's most receptive to chemicals... I wonder if anyone's ever experienced turning into a pony while tripping...?)

I'm going to try this, because science, but I'm incredibly unwilling to be hypnotised - I'm barely even willing to meditate! - so I predict it won't work on me at all.

I'm also going to download all these raw audio files and chuck them into DJ sets to confuse listeners.

Whelp, I tried it last night - it didn't work. I couldn't really get comfy - I normally toss and turn about while falling asleep, as much as when I'm actually sleeping. I felt fidgety and wanted to roll over on to my side after about 10 minutes. That, and the narrator's occasional slip-ups, kept me pretty grounded in reality. My heart rate slowed a bit and I felt my digits get a bit tingly at some point, but that's what happens when you lie still for 20 minutes straight. Also, the transformation descriptions - even though the narrator made sure to explain that it was all painless - are dang creepy.

I tried it again just now, but had much the same problem of fidgetiness. (Fidgitude?) I stopped it after about 6m30s, because I was nowhere near "as relaxed as it is possible for anyone to be." Maybe I need to take some drowsy flu medicine beforehand...
