RE-Introduction Thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

RE-Introduction Thread

Postby nOk » 14 Jan 2013 12:35

I'll be honest. I'm unfamiliar with a lot of you people, and many of you I'd love to know better!

Now that many of us are familiar with the site and some of the people on it, I thought that this would be good for those who want to get to know you more (like moi), or for you to simply re-introduce yourself!

Hi! I'm nOk. I make electronic music, and some of it's pony related, but mostly not. I still like the community though, and would be open to a colab with someone :)

Yeah, like that...

There is an introduction thread that's stickied, you know. You could just read through it.

But sure, I'll introduce myself.

My name is Sam. I produce electronic music, mostly pony related, but I'm thinking about branching off sooner than later.

Hello. I am Nine Volt aka "That Guy Who Spends Too Much Time Here".

I make music that I like, which usually ends up being relatively upbeat and energetic and doesn't really fit into a genre. I don't make pony music and hence don't consider myself a brony musician. I've been producing for almost a year now.

In that case, hello again!
I am Eli.
I'm still fairly new at producing electronically. I've been taking piano lessons for seven(?) years now.
I also play sax and acoustic guitar. Currently learning drums and trumpet.
Euh... what else?
Oh, I guess I sometimes make pony music. Let's be honest though. I write instrumental only. In that realm, nothing is ACTUALLY pony music. It just has pony titles or influences.

Well, I never actually introduced myself, so I may as well now.

Hi, my name is Brandon, I am also known around the internet as "Bull Smit". I've been producing for a little under a year now. My main influences are Camo & Krooked, StanSB, Maduk & Breakshift. I generally enjoy making Liquid Drum & Bass and Heavy Drum & Bass, but will also make experimental chill-type music as well when I feel like it.

Hello. I am half of Ghelded Kultz (and presumably the other half will post something here eventually). I am a human and I have been technically producing music for about four years now. I also play the french horn. I do not have a name or location I am willing to disclose (Though I drop hints), but I will say that I am not legally an adult. While I have been a brony since before season 2, I have not used my ability to read and sort of speak portuguese.

I make anti-music, no-fi, and whatever else I feel like. I hate virtuosity and pretension. Some of my favorite bands/producers are Sonic Youth, They Might Be Giants, The Velvet Underground, Husker Du, Neu!, Fugazi, Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten, KLF (guilty pleasure of mine), Sparklehorse, Low, Codeine, The Aquabats, Butthole Surfers, Pixies, Skream, Atom and His Package, Dragaard, Genghis Tron, Dead Can Dance, Ataraxia, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Merzbow, Kaizers Orchestra, Gogol Bordello and Dead Kennedys, among others. So a lot of 80s alternative. While I am open to most genres I (willingly) listen to (hardcore) punk, noise rock/pop, industrial (and its various derivatives), new wave, indie/alternative (a variety of subgenres in here but my favorites are lo-fi and slowcore). I do not really like country (but alt-country, rockabilly/psychobilly, bluegrass and some other genres like that are fine), hip-hop (but there are many exceptions to this), Dnb, brostep (the older, more ambient and minimalistic dubstep is fine), progressive anything or house (excluding acid house).

Philosophically I take influence mostly from the Punk movement, Dada, Situationism, Existentialism, and Inverted(or is it Subverted)-Solipsism. Politically I am a socialist with authoritarian tendencies. I am naturally contrary and am willing to take any sort of unpopular view if it is mine or for the purpose of debate.

I am a jerk and like hyperlinks. That should be a sufficient introduction for me.

Since my post on the introduction page, I guess things have changed.
Hi, I'm Kushy Kallous, and I'll re-introduce you to me and my current happenings.

- I am proficient at making amateur rap tracks
- I sometimes do vocal-covers of songs
- I have a decent understanding of producing my voice
- I just recently started dabbling in mastering(in no way any good at it)

I have met plenty of brony musicians, and non-musicians whove really shone bright in ways that inspired me to actually DO things with my time. And so, I write rap, =p

: D I think I've gotten plenty friendlier too!
To judge ones intellect seems ignorant in reality.

And I'm the other half of Ghelded Kultz. If "Matt Metronome Clipclop" (I was the one who had to come up with these stupid names) is the uncompromising artist, I'm the lazy, talentless troll on for the ride. I also happen to be a human, and I'm less of a legal adult than he is. I lack any musical ability, so I provide most of the vocals as while I suck I'm slightly better at singing than he is. I also provide the visual "artwork" for our songs and some of the lyrics and concepts. I also have a small following on Fimfiction, under my standard name "Ganondox".

My musical tastes are slightly more normal, so I don't really give a damn about pretention as long as the music is good, and I see virtuosity is an admirable, though not required, trait. Therefor I like Metal and some Progressive Rock. My favorite musicians/bands include They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Colton, David Bowie, System of a Down, Disturbed, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Stephan Soundheim, Breaking Benjamin, Iron Maiden, Weird Al, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Journey, Queen, and Judas Priest. The Aquabats and some if not most of the other guys from his list are also pretty cool. I share his distastes in Country, Hiphop, "Bass Music", and House.

Politically I think I would be Democratic Socialist or something along those lines. I like arguing for the sake of arguing when I am not lazy. Yeah.

Hi all, i'm Lukas or IvoryKeysADSR, i'm 24 and i'm from Slovakia.

I'm almost 10 years in the live performances business, but i only started writing/composing 2,5 years ago. I'm a piano / synth player for hire now, because the band i was in pretty much fel apart. First pony related song i made was a theme to Fo:E.

I make orchestral music, piano instrumentals or ambient electronic music. Tried something with vocals, but that didn't end very good (working on my voice though).

I also play non-pony music, but only as a studio player nowadays.
