Parents reactions to you liking ponies.

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

My dad thought it was a tad strange but I think he has come to expect that from me now so he didn't have much of a reaction.
My sister actually got into the show too and is a pegasister! :D

It'd be really awkward if you had a sibling, who acted like a hater, but was really a brony (or pegasister or whatever).

Well, the first person I told was my dad.

Soo... we were eating dinner and he asked me what this My Little Pony thing was about and first thing he asked was "is it a bunch of people that are against the show?" I Lol'd and said "no it's the exact opposite." And I went on to tell him about why I like the show and the huge community around it and how many awesome amazing friends I've made throughout the whole thing. Then I think a week later I told my mom, and she seemed fine with it. she said she wouldn't tell my stepdad and one day he was napping on the couch across from me while I was quietly watching the show on "treehouse" lol so he woke up and was like "What the hell are you watching?" I was like "problem?" he then said "it's a show for little girls!" Then he went to the bedroom and I think my mom somewhat explained some of it. So that was how my parents found out, my sister also knows and most of my friends do :3

I actually told my family directly once I started really loving this community. I told them about how awesome I thought it was, and my mom kinda just shrugged and laughed it off. My dad makes subtle jokes every now and then, but it's not that bad. My sister only brings it up when her friends are around to make herself seem cool and edgy, or whenever we're in a serious argument, because that somehow makes her argument more credible. Either way, it's not too bad. It helps that nearly every single person in my friend group is a brony.

I think the one strongest argument you could use is (with example):

Silly, Uninitated Relative: 'Why are you watching this show when it's not even for you!'
You: 'Why would you oppose it? It has no nudity, no violence, no horror, tons of morals and frankly, is better than pretty much all of the things on television today! There's a million-strong, if not more, community that love the show, all around my age, both male and female. Every idiot in the world hates the show, but it's very quickly ignored. Why would you NOT let me watch it?'
I cannot make music at all.

I can mix very well. PM me if you want me to mix ANYTHING. However, college is sapping my spare time at the moment. MLR is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing.

my step brother had a friend over recently and we started a SEVEN HOUR conversation, then said friend saw my phone BG (a fukken adorable fluttershy) and called me out on it, I explain to them both that I just enjoy the show for what it is (not a stretch of the truth, I hardly have any pony merch and what not...and lots of pony music), they both understand my reasons and we resume awesome conversation.
I'm not here anymore, but if you want you can still just call me Mr. BigBagelBoggle!

Mine really didn't give a shit. Once I told them MLP got me into my career field they encouraged me to watch the show and get involved with the community. So hey :D
