Bartekko Appreciation Day

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

IIRC Bartekko was the first guy helping me out with some n00bish problems here, and he even remembered about that in IRC. I appreciate that! :3

Posting before Circuitfry locks this thread:

inb4 tl;dr

Senator Myth wrote:

I joined when RWIII was taking place, but weren't active before RWIV.
but I do remember that he started out as an insufferable ass,

If I had to live with myself from three months ago, there's a high chance I would banish this dude to the moon after two to three days. No, Seriously. In real life I was even more of a jerk/kid/troll/faggot than how I was here.

and though it shames me to admit it, we all sort of ganged up on him and bullied him

O RLY? I remember getting trololololololed on skype chat, but I took it as a joke. I always knew that people on internet are usually jerky, so I didn't care much.

At one point, he was superclose to being banned from MLR for calling Makkon lazy.

I've been misunderstood back then: When I said that makkon is lazy, it was much more of a joke than actual critic. I should have taken example from NavyBrony and actually think about what I just wrote. But yeah, NavyBrony wasn't here when all this shit happened.

I'm not entirely certain how it happened, but let's face facts: Bartekko has transitioned from being someone I thought of as a worthless troll to being one of the most genuinely constructive members of the community.

How it happened? I realized that you guys were trolling me for a reason, and something broke (I think it was about the time when tarby made this song). Yeah, now I remember that it was when Everyone was posting in the MLR poetry thread or something, because Microsoft Sam rap.

Today, on IRC I was talking with various people, including d.notive. He joined mlr a day after WAT 06 appeared, according to toastbeard. He told me that he wasn't sure if he wanted to stay in here, seeing how I've been trolled. But the best thing is, I didn't really care about that you guys were trolling me.

~~~~~~~~~~ AND THIS IS FUCKING IMPORTANT TO ALL OF MLR AND BRONIES~~~~~~~
(a.k.a. the letter to princess celestia)
I've learned three lessons:
1.) If you use a pencil sharpener, the pencil will get hurt, but will be sharper, which taught me the lesson: If you get hurt, You'll stand stronger next time.
2.) Don't care about haters, they'll get bored if there's no reaction, which taught me the lesson: Trolls gonna Troll (as long as you take them emotionally).
3.) A person who has been hurt deeply, won't ever hurt no one else the same way.
I took these lessons very seriously and that's why you can say:
He's polite and encouraging to newcomers, doesn't spam or troll, and I was pretty taken aback by how many times I was seeing "WOW! Bartekko just made an awesome/topical/awesome post!"
( I squee everytime I see such response to my post).
I know I snapped at you once or twice in the past, Bartekko, and I apologize for that.
I'm not the kind of person that holds a grudge. Just don't do that again (no one should ever do that, I'm looking at you, I-Pie), to me or to anyone else. Remember that newbies are new, and treat them how you would like to be treated.
Bartekko: fries the circuits... of my heart (I know that's not how quotes work, but heartfelt compliments work all the time)
Manly tears were shed. now change your signature, I-Pie.
Makkon wrote:Sorry for all the crap we've given you.
You were the one polite in a ocean of hate, you're not the one to be sorry.
Flutterbro wrote:You know, I never heard the story behind you just all my blood...
Back in september, I posted completely nonsensical critique on Jackle app's "I love everything", and after getting this song buried under ocean of hate for me, I wrote some apology things and tried to regain some respect by positively commenting on Jackle's next song.
Fagtekko wrote: Oh you, I was planning on being unproductive today but You Just All My Blood x6
I'd recommend looking at WAT06 for the rest of the story, and check out the "Must have VSTPlugins" thread for the peak part.
sellyme wrote: Well, considering how immensely helpful he has been to me in the last few days, I figure this is as good a place as any to make my first post. Thanks Bartekko, you truly are a great person, and a great musician to boot.
I've really been helpful? I didn't even notice.
Tiaaaaa wrote:Thanks for all of your advice and help, Bartekko. You've been a huge help to me even since I first joined.
And that Ira Glass quote you posted in one of the 'starting out' threads a while back was absolutely beautiful. That entire post you made was beautiful, actually. I have that quote saved to my desktop now so I can read it whenever I'm feeling incapable. And I never would if it weren't for you.
Thank you for the love. I didn't find the Ira Glass quote. It was first posted in petfood56/Facade's "quitting music" thread. I only reposted it for being an awesome quote.
Aussie wrote:And I find it amazing how Bartekko became so awesome so quickly. Just a few weeks after he became famous for You Just All My Blood, suddenly he's making these really insightful and helpful posts on here. And not only his posts, his music got way better too (besides the short offkeyness in his Rainbow Factory remix)! I'm seriously loving his new little style of putting in as many synths as fucking possible, and making sure absolutely NOTHING stays the same.
As many synths as possible? I don't think that 6 Instances of Z3TA+2 are a lot, comparing to that you usually have over 20 tracks in one song.
Nothing stays the same... Yeah, I know, The race of loyalty is a kaleidoscope track, but I might do it only once in a while.
NavyBrony wrote:I suspect the magic of friendship was at fault here.
Ponies have changed my life, a lot, true.
But seeing this thread: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=245 I'm not alone.
If I didn't become a brony, I'd still be playing too much video games. I don't play games at all anymore, apart from turning on COD once in a while for 10-20 minutes.
Without Ponies without Interrobang Pie, I'd still be an asocial Jerk.
TheSunAndTheRainfall wrote:I'm just gonna jump in and say that I'm amazed at how he's changed as well. Bartekko, I probably have never exchanged words with you, but I still think you're awesome, stay that way. c:
come to IRC chat, I usually am on, especially now, when christmas time.
Versilaryan wrote:I gotta say, I admire his perseverance. If I got trolled that hard, I'd probably leave, let alone do a complete 180 and try my absolute hardest to be more productive. Great job, brony!
Honestly, it all feels like a blink of an eye. I didn't even try hard, it all came naturally. Maybe I'm just growing up.
PinkieGuy wrote:I agree with that one hundred percent. I apologize for any trolling I've done in the past (don't remember how much I did, apart from some stray 'All My Blood'ing), and thank you so much for the warmth you've shown others entering the community.
It's all in good fun.
I have an idea for a gift for you, but it may be a while in coming.
I though it happened about a month ago when I-Pie has send me the apologies on skype.
Biff0r wrote:IIRC Bartekko was the first guy helping me out with some n00bish problems here, and he even remembered about that in IRC. I appreciate that! :3
I know how it feels to be a newbie, that's why I try my best at helping, and hopefully not ending up as sweetie belle: rarity "helper"
As a final word, I wanted to thank everyone who helped me through the hardest part: Maxwell Kasprzak, Andy Feelin', Circuitfry, Frank, Makkon, and Zorg: You are fucking awesome.
Okay, now I feel like I should quit music or something because of this post. It looks like a goodbye letter.
Why would Circuit lock this thread? Did he say something to that effect? That guy can be so overzealous sometimes <3
I'm pretty glad that my thread obtained such an overwhelming response. Bartekko sure as hell deserved it. Let's all try to be a little more like Bartekko: pretty humble and super supportive of newcomers, and also the whole "not holding a grudge" thing is a pretty boss quality to have too.
In conclusion... yeah. GO BARTEKKO. YOU ROCK. woohoo
here's to breaking the rule about necroing threads.
(but we still love you bartekko)
You're looking at the wrong post lol. That one was less than a month after last year's Bartekko's appreciation day, which is understandable given that MLR may have had a little less activity (I'm only talking about quantity, nothing about quality). The post with the bigger gap is the 11 month gap right after, just from Bartekko, which is fine since it's his day.
Not trying to instigate anything, just giving a correction *meep!*
