Getting braces. :P

Postby XXDarkShadow79XX » 06 Sep 2012 20:15

Yeah, like the title says, I'm getting braces soon. This Tuesday. And for some reason, I'm freaking out a bit. So like I always do, I'm turning to this amazing fandom for help. Do any of you guys have any advice, encouragement, or experiences? I don't want this thread to be just about me, but it should stay on the topic of braces.

Thanks guys. :)

(P.S. You may remember me as the poster of the "I broke my arm" thread. I am pitiful.)

They're not that bad although at the beginning just eat soft foods... and when you get Elastics WHERE THOSE LITTLE THINGS it'll make the time you have your braces on shorter

Grin (or don't) and bear it.

Get in the habit of buying floss-guides, as well as cleaners for your braces. They're a bitch to keep clean, and you want to keep all that stuff shiny, because unclean braces are really good ways to get cavities.

The reward is when you take them off and they feel all good and slimy.

Get used to aching. It doesn't really go away. You're reshaping bones, after all.

Technically they're not marks. They're the lack of marks, surrounded by marks.

Just got the top half of my braces on.

Doesn't look that much worse than my regular smile. :)

Whenever you're called out for a check-in at the dentist's, make sure to have some yoghurt (or any other non-solid, and preferrably cold, food) and painkillers back home, since on most of the check-ins they'll adjust the braces to be a little bit tighter, and that causes some nasty ache.

Other than that, remember to brush your teeth :)

Why do you feel bad?

DJ TATCM wrote:DON'T HAVE TACOS FOR DINNER THE DAY YOU GET THEM

Don't tell me you actually did that...

But yeah, so far, they haven't been aching. Probably cause I only have the wire on the top 4 teeth right now. (I'm getting the bottom half done Thursday.)

The best you can do is whatever the dentist says and hopefully they know what they're doing.

Well, it turns out I wan't getting my bottom braces on today. In fact, they actually took the wire off of the top. Instead, they put in the dreaded spacer. It kinda sucks cause now I don't know how to swallow properly and I can't talk without sounding like an idiot. OK, those were exaggerations, but still, have any of you guys had spacers?

Edit: Derp, I mean expander.
