Note to noobies regarding names

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

Then play around with it like Tijs Verwest did with his and came up with Tiësto! But of course he first thought of that after going by with many alias.

Dear sir, as deemed necessary by the site management, your name will be permanently changed to Fluffy Bumpkins. You have 24 hours to provide us with a better alternative.

I forgot to come tell you guys about my horrid first names; actually went through three: my 5 year old name "pieloverz" (yikes), my second less dumb but ultra generic "DJ Dystopia", and now my completely odd Senntenial, which I like quite a bit.

Yeah. And 4 hours 24 minutes to spare!

Appropriate for both MLP audiences and "outsiders". *sigh* I just want something snappy.

You'd be amazed to know how many aliases Simon Berry has produced under. He's still one of the most respected name in trance production.

Aliases are a big part of dance music. They're actually incredibly liberating, because some aliases just tend to acquire certain tropes that listeners come to associate with your style. For instance, under my jex alias, most of the stuff I would prefer to release publicly is typlically more dark and cerebral, with a lot of acid influences, and any melodies that do arise are incidental, whereas aliases like Chimera and Sonic Rainboom have more flexibility in regards to melodic focuses.

No, you're not. A good nonpony name for a pony artist should reference something completely different, and then you act like the pony that would most likely appreciate the reference

I honestly have struggled to come up with a unique screen moniker for myself that hasn't sounded cheesy, derivative, or just downright awful, for the 6+ years I've been on the internet. :( Jimmy is just an informal version of my actual name (James).

I go by E9P3 because it reminded me of a butterfly in a certain font.
I was originally going to go with an overly thought out name like Artes Magicae, but I decided to just go with something that wouldn't make any sense to most people.
