By the way have people dealt with the new youtube software that DETECTS liscenced samples in youtube music? I uploaded a brony mixtape to youtupe that had Flutterstep which in itself directly sampled whole heaps of Skrillex - Rock n' Roll. It not only noticed as SOON as i uploaded but allowed it with a link to the itunes version of the original so that Skrillex could get a sale off the ponified bootleg track. Technically it notified me that the recording company COULD take further steps to remove it but the future of this argument might be in enforcing people who have sampled to forcibly link to the original and allow it to happen as a new way to possibly get a sale. Interesting new development and I'm curious just how many artists are in their database so far (something that they're likely paying to be a part of).

Ive noticed things like it, and its pretty sad considering that they already make enough money from the song,
well i guess that's life, everyone's greedy and just wants money

Ultimately, what it comes down to is what kind of legal precedents there are, which will usually vary by jurisdiction--I don't know how far copyright cases involving straight up sampling have ever gone, but my recollection is that there's not really a consistent interpretation of how copyright applies to sampling, since it's so new. What the copyright owners are doing about it is also important. Thus far no one's been approached by Hasbro about making money off of sampling the show, so it seems to be okay. I'd be careful with the remixes, though. I think the commonly accepted view of remixes is that you have to have a license or consent from the original in order to profit off the remix, otherwise it's infringement.
