Confidence

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

Confidence

Subject pretty much says it all, I can never seem to make up my mind on anything at all (Tests, quizzes, etc.) same goes for music production. Any tips on breaking this habit?

I'm a bit too logical/mathematical so i weight pros and cons alot.... But if I had to give a piece of advice on a subject it would be always try to keep useless doubt out of your life. Doubt has benefits, but overall, don't over think small things too much.

Some say doubt comes from experience, but that isn't completely true. I feel that you can develop confidence in yourself and the in the choices you make from crafting for yourself good experiences. Never fear failure. It has to exist, and it's inevitable. But failure is a beautiful thing in and of itself, because it's not the end, it's the start of great things to come.
The only true failure you can ever have in your life is from never trying.

Just know that while you are here, you never need to feel sheepish or shy. Show us what you have, get active, and make some friends. It's easier to be confident around people that you know.

If you haven't already, I suggest you contact Circuitfry, one of our moderators, and ask him to add you to one of our official MLR Skype-chats. We'd love to see you there :]

Makkon is right. I have the same problems as you, my friend, I sometimes feel like even my best efforts aren't good, be it music, school, life in general, but like Makkon said, one way to get more confident is to be active around here. That's one thing I've been doing and it's slowly but surely working. I made some new friends on Skype, I'm involved in a couple of collabs, including Balloon Party, and I'm now an admin on Equestria Music on Facebook.

One thing that I'll say is do not fear criticism. Criticism is there to help you improve in whatever it is you do. You know, if you were to do a song again, what would be needed to make it perfect? We all have our "Oh, I should have added (Insert something here)" moments, like when I had an idea for a solo in a song I already published.

Remember, you are your own worst critic. I second the MLR Skype chat idea. Since this is a community of brony musicians, stuff like that helps us get to know each other a bit better. Try putting your contact info in the thread so we can add you. If you want you can PM me if you want to talk more, man.

I will say if you're at a stage where you are struggling with self-confidence it is important that you are able to look at yourself and what you do in a positive manner. Confidence starts with yourself and liking yourself and what you do. When you don't have it, it paints your whole life, your attitudes around you, and by others about you. It may sounds silly that you may need to "switch it on" but once you realize that confidence and positivity is something you control more than anyone else it gets easier to FEEL that way. By all means have people in your life that you trust, you can vent to, and feel support from as that's important too (and that's always a 2-way street).

Find something you like and buckle down and put the pedal to the metal. One day you'll find yourself farther than you ever imagined.
