Want to know what bothers me more than what was stated above?
*And no, Applejinx, this is not because of your song.*
Remixception
Let's look at the types of songs that get posted. For the vast majority, you have instrumentals and remixes. The most underposted type of songs seem to be 100% original with lyrics, which are also relatively hard to make, requires singing ability, etc.
Most brony musicians are not going to create epicly memorable instrumentals that will get remixed, and instead, typically instrumentals get some kind of PMV, such as Makkon's Deae Lunae.
*Not saying remixes for instrumentals don't happen. It just doesn't happen very often.*
Compare that to some of the front runners such as Living Tombstone, Mic the Microphone, Glaze, etc, who frequently put out high quality originals with memorable stories/lyrics, and thus, inspire a lot of musicians to remix them.
My beef with the, "remixception," is the sheer amount of it, and to pretend some artists aren't using it to boost popularity would be a lie.
*On a related note, I think I'll snap if I see another Rainbow Factory remix.*
Not saying remixes are bad. It's just becoming far too much when the same songs get remixed by every musician in the community and their mother.
Sort of related to remixception:
Is there some sort of race with new songs? It seems less like inspiration, and more like a race to see who becomes the first musician to get a remix of a new show song posted, and it typically shows in the overall quality.
Now, as for my hypocritical closing remarks:
"This Day Aria" . . . . . . Back the hell away from it!
This song is far too dark for all you happy go-lucky club and electro lovers. Leave the dark and evil sounding remixes to us.
