there's a way to learn music by myself?

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

The drums could use some more depth. Layering and reverb is key to get nice drums. but something I reacted on is that you're building a lot of suspense in the track (the drums that come in at the beginning and the wooshy fx) that you're not really utilizing. When you're building suspense you create the illusion that something is going to change, and if it doesn't you are generally left unsatisfied. =w=

I'm actually taking music theory for my Senior year, but I'm hoping to go into engineering.

I don't want to give up learning music, now that I have only just begun. It's just that I know I can be good at either if I could just learn devotedly instead of having to bother with all my other classes. A lot of what we are learning in my English, Mathematics, and Science classes are things that come easily and naturally to me. They feel almost pointless and are extremely tedious to me. The problem is that it's not as if I'm smart enough for the AP courses either.

Damn. I talk too much. Sorry. Nopony cares what I'm doing in life.

(sry for delayed answer, my old computer broke)
Yeah you're right I should pay more attention to the drums, and beginning is kinda messy :P It just doesn't feel right, I just didn't know what to do to make it sound better >_> (imagination KO)
I've just learned some new tricks in music making but I need to practice... NEXT ONE WILL BE BETTER! (yeah talking about computers, the computer I used to make this music was really crappy, so I was like rendering music every time I wanted to listen how it sounds and what I need to change...it was painful and slow process, BUT I've got new PC and this one can handle everything xD)
haha thanks a lot for your critique, I will totally consider your advices in my future musics!

I was pretty proud of this one, but as always, I find new mistakes and small things to fix ^^
Thanxie!

Oh AlicornBob, learning music theory isn't easy! To be honest I just hate how everything in music theory is so complicated and confusing.
Sometimes I just give up for short period of time, but then I remember how much I love music after listening to someone's else's work ^_^ , everypony here say to don't give up , they know what they're talking about.
Just get some motivation and make ZE MUSIC MAGIKS! :D

But i have one question, there's any tutorial about basic note thing, for example piano has those A#5, F5, B5....
well if i dont know how notes work i cant make music, right?

I don't know how notes work, but I've composed some fairly intricate stuff without that knowledge (or at least very, very basic knowledge of note values, clefs, etc.). It definitely does help, don't get me wrong. It isn't essential, however. If you've got an ear for music and a vision for how you want something to sound in the end, you'll be able to do it, theory or no theory.

As for learning on your own, it is very much possible. I've played guitar and a little keyboard for the past 6 years, and I've been using FL Studio 10 for the past 5 months or so. Just experiment, look up tutorials, figure out what kind of sound you'd like to go for (easier said than done) and you're off to a great start.

Good luck, brony. (:

haha yeah, I've played with FL studio before knowing music basics, and well , I knew that I wasn't making music, just bunch of disorganized sounds (and I had 0 experience in music, I've never played any musical instrument before, not to be flute in school.)

I already learned basic theory in internet, and it helped me A LOT, most important things are scales and intervals, if you know those basics you can make music!
I'm still learning those stuff, I want to know all major and minor scales as palm of my hand, but it will take some time (damn laziness).

Im saving money for some good midi keyboard (61-88 keys) I think after having one of those, It will be easier to learn and compose music.
Now I have small LPK25 xD IT's awesome to start with, but as it says it have only 25 keys, that means I can only play with one hand...

But yeah, thank you ^_^ this forum was that thing that dragged me into music making
(sry for bad English )
