Be-A-Hipster Thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

d.notive:
DAT FUNK.

As for me, Dan Kelly, Tank Dilemma (I can't even find a youtube vid for them - saaaahhh hip. Have a band page thing) and Nick Charles are about as hipster as I get.

Dan Kelly is moderate alternative rock. Really, really chill, probably the least hipster.
-Fun Fact: Nephew of Dan Kelly
Tank Dilemma are funky, soulful modern jazz/Rhythm & Blues
Nick Charles is a great acoustic guitarist.

Recommend all.

Here is Tank Dilemma's MySpace : http://www.myspace.com/tankdilemma
And yeah, it's totally awesome. Sadly, it doesn't look like they're still going on, and it's hard to even find where to buy their albums... I admit downloading the more well-known music, but that's why we really need to buy the good hipster stuff, it's a shame to see that such a good band didn't make it.

Some from my own hipster playlist, now. Must watch in at least 720p, as the Youtube compression completely butchers the first one in particular. Speaking of it, I strongly suspect that its terrible cover art is actually a cunning plot to stay underground despite the sheer awesomeness it conceals.

How about Memnoir? He's had vids for four of his songs out for a year, and none of them have broken 5000 views. The kicker? I have a physical copy of his EP and a T-shirt.

And then there's _ensnare_. Enjoy.

This guy posts so much great stuff it hurts, but he right now has only 5 views. Which makes me super-hipster, I guess.

I don't imagine these guys getting big any time soon... or at all. But I've been following them for a little under a year now and they seem to know what they're doing.

Kishi Bashi!

Kaoru Ishibashi is/was the lead singer in Jupiter One, has been playing in of Montreal for a while, and he's about to release his first record. And he's seriously amazing. His live shows are awesome, 'cause he uses this loop station, and makes really cool stuff by layering and twisting violin bits, and sometimes percussion. Seriously you guys, check him out!
