Equestrian Beats

We all love it, otherwise it's unlikely you'd be here. Talk about the show and the fanbase surrounding it. Brony music discussions encouraged.

It kinda ticks me off that EQbeats doesn't accept WAV

We don't accept WAV because it would take forever to upload. Transcoding audio before uploading is way faster.
I don't like MP3, but since it's the standard format, that's what we work with.

But since we got some complaints about FLAC too, we'll probably add more formats sooner or later.

not to to mention that artists SHOULD tag their own mp3's before they upload. If they uploaded wavs for eqbeats to encode they'd take up more server room (which lets face it is FREE) and wouldn't encode the mp3's correctly ;)

Hey, we've added some more stuff recently. Notably, support for WAV or pretty much any format, and a bunch of licensing options, because Creative Commons is awesome.

Any file other than MP3 will be transcoded to VBR0 MP3, and Vorbis as usual, and will be available alongside those two formats. Both MP3 and Vorbis will be tagged, the original file will be left as-is.

There's more info in the news post if you're interested : eqbeats.org/news/17

any progress with any type of a feedback system? Uploading to eqbeats is like throwing my cd's in a box. They just sit there. I have absolutely no idea how many views or downloads i get and youtube and soundcloud get me a load more statistics and feedback in comparison. Not trying to whine but I hope you're writing code to compete with your obvious competition.

I've been having some issues with EQ Beats and Celestia Radio.

All of my pony related songs have the checkbox ticked to air on Celestia Radio, however none of my songs have ended up in the database.

I talked to Shamrock about it about a month ago, and he can't seem to figure out why that is.

At first I thought it was my songs weren't up to par on the quality, but while listening to the stream one day and hearing some fairly low quality songs being aired, I figured something was up.

Is it possible somebody on the team could look into this?

Yeah, like Navron said. There should be way to see how many downloads or plays your song has gotten.

Also, just curious, but would anybody happen to know just about how much traffic EqBeats.org gets on an average? Because this seems like a really nice way to get your music out there, as well as find new musicians. Especially since brony music + bronies = great combination, instead of soundcloud, since soundcloud is more oriented towards music in general.

I don't think you could have misread my post any further...

How does my radio airing issue relate to a download/view counter?

Okay, your upload to Youtube feature is easily the most useful feature I've ever had on anything. I'm quite serious. I have a very low-end computer with very low-end connection quality, so I could never upload ANYTHING to YT without it taking a day and a half (and I mean that nearly literally). With the upload feature... Goodness, it makes it so much easier. Thanks!

For some reason, EQbeats is producing REALLY rough songs when I try to listen to it on the newest Firefox. It sounds like one of those youtube videos that stop and start every second. The same goes for youtube videos that were uploaded from there.

It plays great on all my other browsers, but it glitches on FF. Anyone have an idea of whats wrong?

Probably an update with the coding behind it that slightly offset how playing videos or soundfiles works. Does YouTube have the same problem? Or just embeds? Just give it some time, they'll fix the problem.

I've given up on EQBeats, without stats and with all the flaws that they aren't addressing there's no point using it. It's the equivalent of keeping your cd's in a box and never playing them.

Upload to yewtube and free storage space for music seems like a deal good enough

Well soundcloud kicks their butt and has all the features i want. Pony.fm will hopefully be live soon and pick up where eqbeats dropped the ball.

Soundcloud has gotten more clunky since they rolled out that new site design. Its only working fully on the top 3 browsers and even then, there may be one or two features that forces a switchover from one to the other.

I want a lightweight sharing service that is happy with FLACs and so forth but isn't limited to pony music (most of us do more than that, right?).
