I like how... careful they were with this episode. They deliberately avoided bringing the princesses in at all. And because of that, the internet didn't explode with fandom rage.

It was a very good episode, but I disagree, good sir. I would of liked to see some of the fandom rage over having their precious fanon destroyed by canon. It's a fun thing to watch and I laugh maniacally when it happens.

That's cruel. I like seeing the creativity that comes from the fans making their own conclusions about what happened. Yeah, a lot of it sucks, but some real gems do shine out. I prefer having it open ended as to what happened than being held by the hand and told everything, but that's just me.

I like some of the fanon the fandom creates, but why I enjoy seeing some burn is because I loves seeing those who prefer fanon over canon rage like... Ummm... what is something that whines a lot?

The episode was sweet. I expected the song to be longer and more epic, but with the amount of storytelling going on I can't be upset at how it turned out.

Yeah I was under the impression the song was going to be much different. The end of the play was quite moving, and over all it was very sweat. One of my faves thus far.

Worst episode of the season to me. I don't care about fanon, I care about the steam train and cranes and dams this writer has introduced, as well as writing the characters for gags rather than being well rounded.

If I see another episode with her in the writing credit I am closing the video and never watching it.

i wasn't wild about this episode. i love that they finally covered that you have 3 tribes/races in the community and they didn't work together but do now. that said the characters fighting in the beginning and throughout wasn't enjoyable despite the fact that they really haven't hung out (all 6) during most of season 2. so it was nice creating the backstory but the dialogue in relaying it was really pretty poor in my view.

I agree about the intro "backstage" scene & the "on the train" stuff. Didn't really come off for me at all. The play itself was kinda nice.

yeah the play was a better then the offstage banter, i liked how it transitioned from a play to a virtual recreation and back. Still wish the episode didn't feel so disjointed.

D'aw, I really liked the episode. I kinda didn't like Applebloom rubbing Granny Smith all over Diamond Tiara's face (figuratively speaking, of course) only after everyone liked her story, but her story itself was awesome.

Also, there was no letter to Princess Celestia, what is this treachery?

I actually really really liked this one. That backstory was awesome! If they weren't so close together I would think that IT could have been the main focus of the episode, with the zapapple and Applebloom stuff as a framing device. The "bookends" in the play episode really didn't work very well there, though... Maybe they would have sucked here too.

Anyway this is one of my favorite episodes of season 2 so far. Like I said that flashback was GREAT, hero's journey monomyth type stuff almost. Also we got a cool map. And... let's face it, Granny Smith was really cute when she was younger! :3

yes! that was pretty awesome and much needed. I loved the flashback part and that really made the episode work (whereas the same history lesson didn't work as well in the christmas one). Was not expecting a lot of an Applebloom episode but this was a pleasant surprise.

That episode was really really great though. I’m glad they retconned the baby design cause good god the ones in Mysterious Mare-Do-Well.

Otherwise, that was really cute. I think Pinkie is my third favourite now.
