Well an OGG file usually renders the best but better than that? im not sure have you tried patching it into Another alternative like Ableton Live or Cubase?

Yeah, mp3's actually cannot export higher then 320 kb/s. That's the highest bitrate. The 450 kb/s is only for ogg, if your have it at 450 kb/s and are rendering an mp3, it will only render in 320 kb/s.
Wav is lossless, yes, but you have to deal with MUCH larger file sizes.

also, most tracks released are 128-320 kbps, 16bit and 44.1KHz - 96KHz usually
not many people release things in 32bit lossless files at 192Khz... it's like almost pointless if the sources can't make that precise sounds... like samples.
also general filesizes are like hundreds of megs for one 1 minute track, so yeah...

I think that 44.1 khz 16 bit is just enough.

Do you really notice the difference between 450 .ogg and a 100 MB .wav?

To me, even 320 kbps mp3 is overkill, unless I'm remixing

I render in WAVE, but only for Bandcamp. Otherwise, a 320 MP3 will suffice for me.

Render all your stuff in 11kHz, 32kbps for best stuff.

Here's where I'd say something about Nyquist's theorem but I don't think that even applies here.

When you render in FL, make sure its set to 512 point sinc. That's where ALL the quality comes from, not the file type. Its crazy how much better it sounds. Sometimes, it'll even sound better than what it sounds like in FL. They must have used unicorn magic for this setting.

Always export production stuff in a lossless format, I do it in WAV and convert it to mp3 later when I DJ.

I can't really tell the difference between a wav and an mp3, as long as its 512 sinc.

Yes, we've made that comparison before. But why does that matter if the perceived sound is not affected. I don't even see it affecting the subconscious feel of the song. There is a slight volume loss with an mp3, but I don't see that as a big deal, either.

On big sound systems (2000+ people) you can hear a diffrence between 320kbps mp3 and lossless, most people wont notice but if you try you will hear it.

Do a double-blind test and THEN see if you can hear the difference.

big sound systems?
waveform comparision?

You guys must be new here
