What are your favorite pieces of equipment?

Postby Dabrenn » 11 Jun 2013 17:58

Hey guys, I'm really curious to see what sort of hardware you guys are using since I have nothing but a Kontrol S2 which I use for occasional event DJ'ing jobs and basic Midi control.

I'm not necessarily in the market for anything, but I'd really like to learn a little bit about the equipment I could possibly indulge myself with in the future, so I'm talking things like Midi controllers, Hardware synths, Audio Interfaces, even software or anything really.

So MLR, what is your favorite piece of equipment?

Honestly, I have the most fun on my piano, Yamaha P-105.

As far as "producer" equipment goes, I have a ton of fun noodling around on my Maschine Mikro, haven't used it in a song yet, but it has some killer drums samples, and all around its pretty great for getting inspired.

The midi cord that plugs my keyboard into my computer.
Best $20 I ever spent.

The Lemur app for IOS by Liine.

I use it primarily for live performances, it currently controls an 8x16 step sequencer as well as a couple delay/reverb sends in Ableton. For studio work I created a 'modulator' template so create complex automation lines using the lemurs' physics engine.

Its the reason I bought an Ipad.

I'm considering getting one for similar reasons, but I wish the apps were supported on a Windows 8 Tablet. Having a tablet seems like it would be great for live performances and studio work.

My turntables.

I'm a shameless bedroom DJ, but I have a lot of fun with them.

TouchOSC. It's an app that is awesome if you can't afford a launch pad. It was like £5.99 and is the best thing you can put on your iDevice for music.
